We start off a new cycle of the Hive Music Festival. It's great news to find out I was the winner of the instrumental category for last cycle. Amazingly, my tribute to Aldemaro Romero paid off. To start off this new set of covers, I'm gonna try to step aside from traditional Venezuelan music into other genres of music.

Boleros are a particular favorite of mine. I've listened to lots of them. In Mexico, there's a rich repertoire of these. Some of them get added the usual rhythm of Rancheras to become Boleros Rancheros. You might have listened to some of these from Manzanero and also in the voice of Luis Miguel.

I'm bringing one that is from composer José Alfredo Jiménez. "La Media Vuelta" was the song that catapulted this musician's name into the mainstream music scene of his country. After being composed, it has been sung by many artists. It's a simple song. Most Boleros are. But they make due with their beautiful melodies and sometimes melancholic lyrics.

I tried to make my own version out of it to adjust the whole idea of the sung to my instrument. Let's see how it goes!

Comienza otro ciclo del Hive Music Festival. Fue genial enterarme que gané el renglón instrumental del ciclo anterior. Afortunadamente, el homenaje a Aldemaro Romero rindió frutos. Para comenzar este ciclo nuevo, daré un paso al lado para hacer otros trabajos que no sean de música tradicional venezolana.

El Bolero es un género que me llama mucho la atención. He escuchado montones. En México, existe una gran variedad de estos. Algunos están mezclados con el ritmo de Rancheras para crear Boleros Rancheros. Quizá hayan escuchado algunos de estos por parte de Manzanero y Luis Miguel.

Les traigo uno del compositor José Alfredo Jiménez. "La Media Vuelta" fue la canción que catapultó la carrera de este músico en su país. Esta canción ha sido interpretada por muchos artistas. Es simple. La mayoría de los boleros lo son. Aunque, eso no resta belleza de sus melodías y letras melancólicas.

Intenté hacer mi versión propia para adaptar el bolero a mi instrumento. Veamos que tal quedó.
