Yes, it is quite weird how attached and attuned we get after touching and holding the same thing for hours and hours every day for decades! I'm pretty optimistic about the ivory one...

We bought my daughter an old violin (well maybe 100 years old) that came with a bow that had an ivory frog. That bow warped and so she has a modern one now. She kept the frog. I think there are issues around selling anything with ivory in it. I know my friend who sold pianos had to deal with that.
Oh, when we moved back to Australia... pianos, harpsichords, fortepiani... all had to get CITES excemptions. Violin bows, and fittings on the violins as well... it was a nightmare!
