Magazine Interviews....

More publicity stuff as I head into preparing for the second concert of my ensemble for the year... and that means more interviews... live, digital, and print. Honestly, I know that it needs to be done... but I really really really really really hate talking about myself. And they always end up going back to that... I guess it is nice to have personal story sort of thing, but I would much rather talk about other people, music, or just anything else!

I'm starting to get less crap at the talk interviews.. I'm still a bit overexcited, rambly, and get easily distracted... but I guess that is just me when I'm talking about something that I really enjoy! And the interviewers usually just let me hang myself with my own rope! I guess they can edit it if they need to... or push me back on course with a gentle question or two!

The print ones are much easier... usually it is just a chat over a lunch or coffee, so it is really quite relaxed. The slightly difficult part is when things are accidentally muddled or misinterpreted between the interview and the going to print... thankfully nothing too disasterous, but there were a couple of moments of... oops!

... but this next one is a new one for me. It is a magazine profile... nothing gigantic, it is just a sort of player profile for one of the symphony orchestras that I play in, a sort of way for the audience to get to know one of the players a little bit better. And on the way, I can publicise my Early Music ventures as well!

So, I was given a long list of questions... it feels sort of like a dating service? Anyway, I do wonder if the answers that I'm going to give are the sorts of things that people expect from a "Classical" musician... ah well, I guess that is going to be my individual "flavour". Plus, I don't write in a very formal or high-browed way... I can turn that writing style on, but I hate it! So, I will stick with my informal chatty style, complete with stupid jokes that my wife will hate!

I guess they are just looking for an "authentic" person behind the stage persona... I shouldn't overthink it. This person, I like computer games, comics, the best movie of all time is a close tie between Chicken Run and the new Mario Movie. By the way, I also love playing violin and want Early Music to return to a sort of pub-band style of energy in performance... and I seem to perpetually look scruffy in every single photo!

LOL... I think that they are never going to ask me ever again!
