Another Big Shipment of Facsimiles!

Another Big Shipment of Facsimiles!.jpg

After my wife got a huge box of keyboard manuscripts, scores, and facsimiles from someone who was giving away their collection... well, I got a touch jealous and wished that I had a huge of collection of music that was new to me to read through. And of course, I went searching through the Early Music stores in Europe to see if any of them were having sales. And it turns out, when you go looking for trouble... it sort of finds you!

So, I was trawling around, and it turned out that Fuzeau... a French publisher of facsimiles (mostly French Baroque, but lots of others...) was having quite steep discounts on what appeared to be end of print and stock clearances! In fact, there were quite a few things for just a handful of euros, and things that were going for 10-20 euros that would otherwise be selling for around 100 or more!

So, I did have to load up a bit to make the shipping worthwhile... but oh gosh, I did load up like crazy... and had to trim it down quite a bit. But I even picked up some things for keyboard for my wife as well.

... and today, the box arrived... a touch battered, but still intact.

Breaking open the bindings on the box revealed several stacks of well protected books and music leaves. Oh my gosh, all individually shrink wrapped and then bundled together in bigger bubble wrapped packages... and then padded out with more wrap and paper! These guys were definitely going to be safe, even if the outer box was ripped... as long as the binding stayed intact!

... oh yes! This is just my stash of stuff. There were about 8 more books that went to my wife that weren't in the picture. Lots of violin and continuo sonatas, with a handful of chamber music as well. Mostly French, and quite obscure composers.... but I'm really keen to organise a reading session sometime to just bash through and discover what these pieces are like!
