Wooohooo!

I have energy! Finally! Not sure if it's the many cups of coffee or just that last spike of activity before collapsing completely. Doesn't matter, really, I'm enjoying it. Did the laundry, re-arranged some stuff, spent a lot of time in the kitchen turning very mild jalapeño into something hot and pickled, preparing seitan for a BBQ in the afternoon, made lunch for Lily, her friend and I.

A friend got me the green jalapeño. Not much hotter than regular bell peppers. Cmobined with some local rocoto and tree chili it should have a bite.

After the weeks of tension, this feels awesome. It almost feels like I got my head checked by a jumbo yet. It wasn't easy, but nothing is.

Yesterday was incredibly rainy. And cold. For Ecuador, I mean, something like 12°C I was told. My brother came in shirt. It felt more or less like a rainy day in the first week of September. No, don't worry, I'm not going to put Greenday here. Although, their album "American Idiot" was and is one of my favorites. Maybe another day. Anyway, we didn't do a Jamsession yesterday, as nobody came. My brother had fed Lily with Cocoa and cake all day, so she was hyper-active. Her friend, the one that is here now, luckily came by with her parents, who are German, too. We stayed quite late while the kids played and finally got tired, talking about the world and how things are in Germany.

You wish for facetime with Katrin, I wish for my fist in your face.
You live in a world of surtitles instead of content.

You have no idea what my heart beats for.
And you're arrogance won't change that.
I tried drama, I tried addiction.
But neither was enough.
I quoted the good ones badly, so I wouldn't have to go back to the front.
You have no idea what my heart beats for.
You have no idea who I am.
I served the extremes and I served the night.
I drowned the longing with vodka, hoping she'd let go.
You have no idea what my heart beats for.
You have no idea who I am.

One of my many favorite German Post-Punk bands. The lyrics are so much more powerful in German, but I hope you get the idea out of my translation.

We got a small electric oven for some smaller orders, as we're low on gas. This Focaccia is the first trial. Coming with to the BBQ!

7000 police are in Quito, waiting for the different groups of protesters. I'm not sure how that will end. The head of police said they're ready to "re-establish law and order." Since the president has ignored our little province and the strikes, the protesters finally decided to bring their agenda to the capital. Maybe the end is soon, one way or the other. I just hope that not more people have to die.

Brenda is a friend of mine. She's an exceptional singer, and mainly interprets Julio Jaramillo, one of Ecuador's most famous musicians. I got to know her through Danilo Arroyo, a producer who himself arranges incredible pieces - I think I featured him once. The photos depicted in the video are titles "portraits with soul, pain and consolation."

I found that fitting for the current situation.

Awesome job on the jalapenos! I pickle my own jalapenos as well, I love them and use them all the time!

Great song you shared, very cool!

Sorry to hear about the further messes down there. Quito is a nightmare these days I hear, which is such a shame. It used to be a safe place (relatively anyway!)

How do you make your sourdough? Do you keep a starter that you feed daily?

Jalapeños can be awesome if they're spicy. But most that I encounter here aren't, really. That's sad. But the blend with rocoto might do the trick.

Quito is save, as much as any big city in Ecuador. It's important knowing the neighborhoods that are save and those that aren't, just like in any big city in the world.

I have my sourdough since the beginning, 11 years ago. We feed it almost daily, as we produce almost daily. I think it has a 48 break at most. Good stuff!

I do love a bit of post punk. The baseline in that German track is lovely.

Woo hoo .. such a joyous song and one you just want to dance around to and entirely appropriate to match you feeling better.

I went on a bit of an Amyl and The Sniffers binge yesterday. She's freaking awesome, speaking of high energy!

And I'm a jalapeno addict. I have a heap ready to pickle. Maybe to make into a fermented hot sauce.

Just thought about you yesterday. With everything that's happening here I barely find time to write, and am usually not focused enough to read posts - just my favorite list. And yesterday I was like "Wait a minute... There's someone missing here!" So, you're on that list now. Will try to catch up with your writings. Probably not comment, but at least read :-D

Did you write a post about Amyl and the Sniffers? Someone did, and I checked them out. Great stuff! I just forgot to add them on Spotify, gotta do that now before I forget again.

And the Jalapeño here are boring. Tasty, yes, but no kick at all. At least the ones that I have found so far. That's why I stick to the local chili varieties. We prepare quite a few different dips and pickles with them.

Hahaha... and I thought this was a Splinterlands post talking about how you let your energy meter fill up so you could play more ranked battles!

Lol! Could've been that I reached the 175k SPS, which would merit a "Woohoo" :-D

Every bit of SPS counts and I just got a bunch more at a relative discount. It will pop up for the new set, I don't think the mini-set discount will be priced this low forever.
