Time to burn something.
This has not been my favorite week. If you scroll down in my blog time line, you'll see that a lot has been going on. It was hard. So, yesterday already, I felt like I needed to burn something. So I did. A lot.
And when something has to burn, there's no way around a classic from the Bloodhound Gang. I wanted to put a different song, "Burn, Burn" from the Lost Prophets, but remembered why I didn't listen to them in a long time. I liked them a lot in my youth, but some things are unforgivable, and child abuse is one of those. What do you think about that? Can you enjoy music knowing what kind of person the artist is?
I still don't get around half of their jokes in the lyrics. But I'll just take it for that, jokes, nothing to take seriously. And while the roof here is pretty un-burnable, there's enough fire around us.
One of my best friends came over with her son and fiance, and while the kids played, we grilled and made fire-potatoes and drank beer and had a little bit of normality within this weird situation.
The whole week was weird. I even had time to take some pictures from my garden and write a post about it, finally getting to present it in the Hive-Garden-Community. I hadn't featured my improvised fire pit there, but I guess that's okay.
Within the whole strike issues, there are always some good things. We inaugurated the bakery-cafeteria-space, not the way we had planned, but more of an emergency mini-market. Which is actually quite fitting, as we're planning to use the place a lot like a community space, for kids and adults alike. And we received a lot of nice words for our projections, as well as a whole lot of ideas on what else we could do, and how.
And we didn't close the week too deep in the red. A little, yes, as we paid everyone their wages though they couldn't work as much as was planned, but they'll work that off step by step later. That's the great part of our little big enterprise - everyone is on board. Everyone understands. We find solutions together. We all have to bleed during these times, but at least we bleed together, each only a little. It also brings us closer together.
Bad times can bring so much good, with the right attitude.
I'm tired now. My nose is still congested from the smoke, I always forget about that. Everything will smell like smoke for a couple of days. I won't sleep so well. As if I was before.
Post written for the #saturdayselections by Galenkp inviting us to share music in the Weekend Experiences community on Saturdays.

Ah you kinda got to chose to let that go. I feel squeamish sometimes about that. Like I was mortified about Ozzy Osborne and his wife being pro Israel even as Gaza was and is dying. How could I possibly listen to black sabbath ever again? And then there's people like Rodney P and I absolutely love his music but was done for attacking woman. Do I don't want to support him but ahhh what happens if one of his songs come on and I find myself dancing round the loungeroom??
Loved listening to the roof is on fire again. It's been a while. It was so big at the time I think I blocked it out, but years later it's quite fun.
Yeah, with Black Sabbath it's hard. But Lost Prophets is not really a big band, the chances of running into one of their songs are quite slim. And it's hard to listen knowing that the guy singing is a pedophile that hurt many children.
Bloodhoung Gang had a few hits back in the days, such a weird band. I listened to them a lot, we even played a few songs.
Probably very hard to enjoy the music when you know versus when you don't know. I usually fall in the latter camp, enjoy the music for its own sake but yes, lyrics can be over exaggerated in a way that you just can't take it seriously. I wonder what type of headspace some of these artists are when creating such kind of music.
I hope things somehow get better over there, stay grounded and get better soon as well :)
They were probably influenced by some kind of drug, be it alcohol or more :-D
Yes, lol. It's sometimes a typical of artist to do such :)
