Here's to life!

Not everything always goes right. I went to the chiro-therapist yesterday to get my C2-C4 in line, and Rip 1 (or 2, I wasn't sure). That went well, but it came it as my mom and brother called in the morning, after my father having had surgery. He was fine, but surgeries (though very common in my family) rattle them up, as I will explain in another post.

The Chiro asked me if something was weighing on my heart, as she was doing some other techniques (she works a lot with energy flows, as I then discovered while being pinched with needles and massaged with vibrating sound forks). And honestly, nothing is, I'm in a great position. But there is the being far away from my family, my other home.

Jupiter Jones - Auf das Leben (live at TVNoir)

This is an epic song for me. The lyrics are incredibly powerful, and always give me that "I'm gonna get through this" vibe when listening. Here's the translation of the most important parts, done by Gemini (translating lyrics is still a little hard for me, I apologize):

The time is ripe for tears, sweat, and blood,
For a true piece of rock-solid life!
The time is ripe for massive courage,
For the last calm before the tremor!

As if that were so easy to understand,
As if life goals were being given away here.
After all, I am free to go,
How little it takes to twist hearts!?

And life goes on.
And somehow I'll manage it!
It gets worse all by itself.

And yet it always stays the same,
I wake up and imagine,
What if it gets even worse,
With the same old phrase in my ear:
That breathing is still worth it,
That fate spares no one,
The road is not always even
And precisely for that reason: Here's to Life!

I will visit my family through Christmas, with Lily. I booked the flight yesterday, "just" 2 months worth of income, but worth it is. And my family always chips in.

Hard times are there to pull through, somehow. My times aren't really hard at the moment, and I appreciate and enjoy that. There might be a turn for the worse, but I won't let that bother me. Most things don't go as planned anyway.

Like the Jamsessions. 4 weeks in, and it's still hard to get musicians together. On top of that, my bass guitar is in the shop, a pick-up has to be replaced and that takes a while since that beast is now 20 years old. But Dave lend me his, and send me some songs to practice, and then we just went on from his app. Two listeners came, and finally went ahead to sing with us.

Neil Young - Southern Man

This one is another powerful piece of art. The chord sequence and tonality changes always give me goosebumps, even when I'm playing. This song caused much controversy, which Dave talked a little about yesterday, even causing Lynyrd Skynyrd to write Sweet Home Alabama.

Time to get back to my work now. I'm spending too much time writing, and there are many other things to do, especially today. We're going to have a concert at the restaurant my in-laws run. A local band called "Shades of Grey" are playing, and it's always a huge amount of people that mostly speak English, so I work the bar to help out (and drink beer). I mentioned one of them, Joel, in another post. It's going to be fun, but probably taking away some capabilities to function tomorrow. Water, water, water!

I'm a bit nostalgic about music, and last time I wrote about my preference for Scandinavian singer/songwriter. Here's the second one of those, Anna Ternheim:

Anna Ternheim - What have I done?

Not everybody can see that video, again, what a shame. But you can probably listen to it on Spotify, so here's the link to that:

https://open.spotify.com/intl-de/track/1yLm47ZXWUNsat5uNJRhOY

Anna Ternheim, just like Agnes Obel, likes string instruments. A lot. She's more down to the ground, not as artsy as Agnes Obel. I like Ternheim's album "Leaving on a Mayday" a lot, and I share the love for her works with a friend from highschool. Whenever a new album came out, I would have Amazon send it to her. But we both have Spotify now and no CD player anymore, so there's that.

Life goes on. Times change. The road is not always even, but breathing is always worth it, and precisely for that reason - Here's to life!

Happy to read that you liked them! The restriction is for South America I think, so Europe should have no problems with the link.

Translating lyrics is always hard, especially to get the meaning just right. I hear you there! Great songs you shared there. You know you could also add the tag #threetunetuesday , and do a shoutout to @ablaze and you will be in the running to win some HSBI units. Kind of a two for one deal, the Saturday selections and three tune Tuesday all in one!

Oh, I didn't know I could do that on a day that is not Tuesday 😅 I'm more connected to Galen and his community, that's why I decided to do it here. I will add it! Thanks for letting me know!
