Coziness Blues.

I was a bit scared of coming back. The last winter that I spent in Germany was not a good one, probably the good old winter depression thanks to lack of Vit-D. That was 2012. This time, I enjoy it. The smells, the colors, the cold, the hot oven. More than anything Lily's face when she discovers something new, that she has previously seen only in books or movies. I really hope there will be snow. She'd freak out.

The oven is on most of the time. 18 months ago, I helped my mom and my brother fill up their respective stashes, and back then I didn't even think about maybe being one of those able to enjoy this cozy warmth, puzzle, crack peanuts, cold beer in front of the hot oven doing some Duolingo or reading one of the 4 books that I bought so far.

Everything looks a little like in the video in this song, which I think I featured before as it's one of my favorite post-punk songs.

There hasn't been any snow just yet. But it's cold. Very cold. And beautiful skies that go dark so incredibly early. Due to the jet lag, I'm still getting out of bed too late, shortening my day even more. I'm writing early today, hoping that I'll be in bed in time to wake up before 10am. As I'm not a fan of Christmas music (no, no Mariah Carey on my page!), I opt for some nice blues. My friend @socraticmthd send me a few nice tunes, "back from the days when musicians had real problems to write songs about", as he put it. Which is pretty true, if I look at what people complain about these days... Although, everything becoming easier is not necessarily an indicator for people being happier, at least not the way life is "improving" these days. More shallow, but that seems to contain more unhappiness. But that's not what songs are written about these days. The pendulum swung too far, again.

@thebighigg mentioned had some nice ska tunes in his last TTT, a genre that I enjoy(ed) very much throughout my life. I don't get much into new tunes these days, I barely have enough time to enjoy the old ones, and the nostalgia adds a nice chunk of feel good to it - new tunes would have to compete with that, and that's not easy.

But it made me remember one of my favorite local ska-punk bands from my youth, Tequila and the Sunrise Gang. Unfortunately, my dearest song, "We wanna walk", is not available anymore. At least not on the channels that I was looking. But "Breathless" is pretty neat, too.

I miss having a working camera. My cellphone kind of works, but there's always that smear from the light falling into the cracked cover. My brother says he's going to get a used phone from a friend. I hope soon. There is so much beauty in Winter here - at least for someone visiting for only a month. I wouldn't want more of it.

Enjoy the trip, and the cold weather in Germany. I bet Lily is going to love everything she gets to experience there. Hopefully you will get some snow too!

Awesome tune you included, some great ska!

I saw an old lady with a ska t-shirt on the other day and thought it was the coolest thing ever.

That wood oven looks amazing .. so cosy. So nice to be 'home' with Lily - enjoy every moment.

She absolutely loves it. She hates that mom is going to move, as she loves the house - and if we'd live in Germany, it would be right here. But we aren't. So... She'll have to get over it. And mom will make the new space as cozy as this one.
