Back in time.
There are quite a few things about being home that haven't changed. Things that stir up memories. Things that I will miss when back in Ecuador again. Things that have not changed, but I have changed, so they feel different now.

The most normal and usually boring tasks become very special once they lost that status of routine. Now, they're not ordinary anymore. Rationally, it's still the same task, but there's memory attached to them. And if those are from a pleasant time, then the tasks themselves become more pleasant. If they're for a limited time. If they're for a long time, they'll be just the same as before pretty soon.
The water at my mom's place is very hard. Leaving drops on metal surfaces always leaves white calcium marks, and mom never liked those. We always had to dry everything after use, including the sinks. And definitely the showers. What I didn't like to do at all back in the days, now I do extra cautiously. Little things that help, and she noticed - "Thank you so much for always drying everything so well!" she said the other day. Just being considerate. And I'm definitely more laid back now, enjoying the vacation.
It's not just the nostalgia, that I definitely felt when eating that apple crumple cake. It's also the perks of being in a differently developed country - and be able to eat vegan convenience food. There is so much industrialized stuff in the vegan section. There actually is a vegan section. That alone...

Is it healthy? Hell no. Do I care? Even more no. I live way to healthy in Ecuador, besides the beer, it's almost completely fresh food, high amounts of veggies and fruits and all that. And although I usually gain around 3kg in the month I'm here, I lose that as quick as I gained it when back in Ecuador.
And it's delicious.
For a while. After a month, it goes back to "okay".
It doesn't really matter, though, I'm still incredibly grateful for all the good vibes I'm having here. Coming back to visit, even in what is now turning into a grey and damp December, is wonderful. The nostalgia plays a huge role, meeting old friends, having fun together, reliving moments.
Liquido was a band I listened to a lot back in school. I played Narcotic on the piano. The melodies are what we call "ear worms" in Germany - they keep on repeating in your head over and over, and you can't stop it. So, if that happened to you, I hope you enjoy it!

Living healthy is great, but when on vacation you do have to live it up a little! If is funny how things seem to change in the world, but they don't really. We just view them differently through wiser and older eyes. But I would love to go back to having a twenty-five year old body again and retain the knowledge I have right now! Getting older is tough, so we do have to take care of ourselves and eat healthy! lol
Enjoy your trip!
I do enjoy getting older though, at least until now - which is not that old. Until now, everything has gotten better, and as long as I adapt to the slow decay and take care of my body, I'm all good. All that experience accumulated is fantastic to have. But yes, that and a 25yo would be pretty awesome.
How is Lily enjoying Germany? The sights, the food, the lifestyle, it must be so different for her! 🙂
She loves it! Absolutely mesmerized, everything is awesome. She's getting a lot of attention and has basically vacations, so that potentiates it. But all the Christmas stuff here, which is so unlike Ecuador and that she has seen in the books, that's what's captivating her little mind.
