A little musical insight into the Austrian soul. The Austrian in itself is already such a very own being. Not German, not Southern, not Eastern, we live our own lifestyle. Very rooted and proud of our origins, we still have this irrepressible longing in us that cries out for big wide world. Maybe because a hundred years ago we were told that we had shrunk to such a small country that was no longer viable?
Or maybe because the very colorful mixture of a large gene pool of the Austrian Monarchy at that time keeps alive in our souls this longing for something lost.
Close to home and yet homeless.
Here for this Threetunetuesday I have compiled a few older songs that are about dreams, about distance and about being human.
Ein kleiner musikalischer Einblick in die österreichische Seele. Der Österreicher an sich ist ja schon so ein sehr eigenes Wesen. Nicht Deutsch, nicht Südländisch, nicht Ostländisch, leben wir unseren eigenen Lebensstil. Sehr verwurzelt und stolz auf unsere Herkunft haben wir doch diese unbändige Sehnsucht in uns, die nach großer weiter Welt schreit. Vielleicht weil uns vor hundert Jahren erzählt wurde, wir wären ja jetzt auf so ein kleines Land geschrumpft, das nicht mehr lebensfähig ist?
Vielleicht aber auch, weil die sehr bunte Mischung aus einem großen Genpool der Österreichischen Monarchie seinerzeit in unseren Seelen diese Sehnsucht nach etwas Verlorenem am Leben hält.
Heimatverbunden und doch Heimatlos.
Hier für diesen Threetunetuesday habe ich ein paar ältere Lieder zusammengestellt, in denen es um Träume, um die Ferne und um das Mensch sein geht.

TTT1 - Georg Danzer - Weiße Pferde (White horses)

The Spanish guitar of this song reflects very well this great longing for... yes for what exactly we probably don't know ourselves? Maybe the longing for a gypsy life.
Die spanische Gitarre dieses Songs spiegelt sehr gut diese große Sehnsucht nach... ja nach was genau wissen wir wahrscheinlich selbst gar nicht? Vielleicht die Sehnsucht nach einem Zigeunerleben.

I assume this song is the "longing song par excellence" for every Austrian? Well at least for me it is. The dream of a life, simple, carefree, sunshine, beach, sea and more...
Ich vermute, dieser Song ist das "Sehnsuchtslied schlechthin" für jeden Österreicher? Also zumindest für mich ist es das. Der Traum von einem Leben, einfach, unbeschwert, Sonnenschein, Strand, Meer und mehr...
