Boys Don't Cry?

( EN / DE ) With this TTT post I'll only scratch the tip of the iceberg and probably I can't even fully grasp this topic from my female perspective?
However, the last week I noticed a few posts that all more or less revolve around the same topic...

@eikejanssen on depression and suicide risk in men and the post introduces us to an initiative, the British brand "Boys get Sad too".
Eikejanssen über Depression und Selbstmordgefährdung bei Männern und uns in dem Post eine Initiative, die britische Marke „Boys get Sad too“ vorstellt.
Bilingual (DE/EN): Das liegt mir am Herzen! [ENG: This is close to my heart!]

@alt3r shares in this post not only about grief after the school tragedy in Serbia, but also her thoughts on how society often pushes young men in this direction.
Days of Grief

Lastly, a post from @george-dee for the Weekend Engagement, in which he shares a personal story, that also fits right in here:
You are man, you should behave like one

All three are really worth reading and also inspired me to write this Three Tunes Tuesday post. Well, maybe it's important to take up a topic like this in as many different communities as possible, so that the problem, if not solved, is at least seen.

First of all, of course, a song came to mind...

TTT1 The Cure – Boys Don't Cry

Here you can see how long this topic has been around, because The Cure released this song in 1979 on their debut album. Of course, even then just like they are! If you are not allowed to do something, then we do it even more!

The Cure - Boys Don't Cry

I try to laugh about it,
cover it all up with lies

I try to laugh about it,
hiding the tears in my eyes

We like to do that, don't we? Also we "girls", that we cover up something that actually touches us very much, maybe even ridicule it, continue to play our role at any price, don't want to drop our masks because we are afraid to show ourselves.

Which leads me to the next song, which is about how it's often not easy to take off that mask, to have difficulties stepping out of your role towards a father or your wife.

TTT3 - Dream Theater – The Silent Man

Dream Theater, actually a metal band, but we already know, the most beautiful ballads of all times come from the metal corner. And yes, that does fit here to the topic too, dont you think? Exactly these most beautiful ballads are also composed and performed by these "hard metal guys"!

And despite everything, every father passes this on to his son again and again...
Und trotz allem gibt jeder Vater dies wieder und wieder an seinen Sohn weiter...

TTT3 - Dax - To Be A Man

Dax is a young Canadian rapper with Nigerian roots who, in my opinion, also did a great job with the theme with this song.

'cause we'll embody what they do
and start the generational curse

This was once again a somewhat thought-provoking TTT post for @ablaze and I hope it was of interest to you :-) Yours, B.

Thank you for your contribution to this important topic! Only when you can free yourself from the toxic "man-ness" do you get to your true emotions and you become a better you.

Yep, I agree sometimes the idea of being a man can turn very toxic. All these ideals are relative, and there are no absolutes.

Alles rauskommt! The Cure - Boys Don't Cry ist ein tolles Lied. :)

This is a really good topic for the week, or any time for that matter. I do not know why we as a people decided that men are not allowed to experience the entire range of emotions available. It's a little silly. Sillier still that woman "are" allowed to cry, but are considered overly emotional for doing so.

Everyone feels all emotions at some point. We need to acknowledge that and support it. It's healthy!

That said, these were also nice songs to listen to. Can never go wrong with The Cure.

I really liked this post @beeber, good on you for highlighting it and trying to bring it into the spotlight as best you can. It's an age old problem, but hopefully one that is getting a little better, as people seem to be better at opening up these days and being vulnerable. As you say below, we can all wear a mask at times for whatever reason..

We like to do that, don't we? Also we "girls", that we cover up something that actually touches us very much, maybe even ridicule it, continue to play our role at any price, don't want to drop our masks because we are afraid to show ourselves.

Great songs too, I always like to hear anything from the Cure and Dream Theatre reminds me of my old Spanish buddy Toni that used to live with us around twenty years ago, a really good guy and big metal head! I love that guitar solo around 2:10 in The Silent Man.

All the three songs get your post theme out there, but for me Dax does the best job of it, beautiful song.
