The last three

Music is a part of all our lives in some manner; it's unavoidable. We hear it in shops, elevators, public transport, airports, school, the workplace, in the car and on movie screes and our televisions; it is literally everywhere.

I remember, as a young girl, the first compact disc I bought. I'd saved up for a Sony Walkman CD player and had enough left over for two CD's to go with it. I was so pleased and excited to have mobile music and to have the latest technology. Of course, CD's gave way to mp3's and the much smaller devices that played them and I had a couple of those also, the last was an iPod - remember them?

These days my mobile phone handles the job of playing my music and music streaming services like Tidal, Apple Music, Deezer and Spotify put virtually any music ever made within reach for a low monthly fee.

Last week, I came across a posting concept called #threetunetuesday created by a user named @ablaze. It revolves around a post, on a Tuesday, sharing three tracks. I don't think there's a theme each week, people are free to choose their own - at least that's how I understand it - and today I am joining in.

My three tracks are all from quite a few years ago. I decided my selections should be the last three tracks I've listened to on my music streaming service and this is them.

Cry - Faith Hill (2002)

Hide and seek - Imogen Heap (2005)

Come away with me - Norah Jones (2002)

My taste in music is quite varied although I find it difficult to like much of the more recent music which I find to be too manufactured and soulless generally.

I like music that moves me and leads me to feel it within, emotionally. I believe that to be the most amazing thing about music - its ability to touch us deeply. I read somewhere that our brains have a reward circuit and it's that which is triggered by music...I'm not sure about that though, all I know is that music makes me feel.

Welcome to #TTT @becca-mac ! Great to see you here!

These are some great songs. I'm a big fan of Norah Jones and melt every time I hear her voice. I've got one of her albums on vinyl, too, and it gets more use than most.

Thank you for the welcome, it's nice of you.

Yes, Norah Jones is a lovely singer. I've seen her in person once and it was so good.

Yep, you have it right, that's it exactly and great to have you joining us, I really liked the Three female vocalists you choose this week, all seriously talented ladies.

I totally hear you, most of my favourite music is decades old, I can't stand all the soulless POP that gets played on the radio, which is why I have almost entirely given up on the radio and mostly listen to Spotify tunes where I can be my own DJ and also like to listen to Podcasts.

Come Away With Me by Nora Jones is such a stunningly beautiful song, I never tire of listening to that one.

Hi there and thank you for your nice comment.

The radio is something I just can't do these days, I use Spotify like you. Being able to control the music, what I listen to and how often, is so great. It suits my varied musical interests and keeps me far happier than the radio ever could.

I have a few podcasts I like and my guy and I listen to some together. They are great for long drives for sure.
