Pretty
It means different things to everyone, pretty, and depending on what the word is applied to as as well; a pretty dress is different to a pretty woman, a pretty song or a pretty painting. I don't actually know what makes something pretty...I guess it's simply a convenient word to express how we feel about something or someone that we relate to, find attractive or interesting.
I'm a girl who likes pretty things and who likes to feel pretty in how I dress and present myself, how I decorate my home and in respect to the items I surround myself with...but I don't think pretty defines me...I'm so much more than that.
Being labelled by others happens and many times people have been surprised when they discover what my interests are, what things I do and how diverse they are, and that their judgement was incorrect. I don't blame them for it, how a person thinks is usually determined by what they observe visually and if they know no better it's difficult to see past that. I also don't go out of my way to share a lot of what I do and feel; a condition that's easy to maintain as I don't have social media, other than Hive. I do what I do and am what I am for myself, people close to me see me clearly, who and what I am, and will determine what that means to them in their own ways. Those closest to me accept me and they're who count in my life.
Pretty? I think I am sometimes, visually I mean; I certainly try to look that way for myself because it feels good. I also work towards being surrounded by pretty things as they make me happy as well. What others see is up to them, and whether they see me as pretty is their choice alone.
Today I am sharing a few songs with the theme of pretty, just because, and because I was listening to them over the weekend which gave me the pretty theme. Two of them are songs I've liked for a while and one and one song new to me, found over the weekend. All are nice though.
This topic reminded me of the phrase: "Beauty is in the eyes of the Beholder". I think as long as You see yourself as pretty, as well as the people that are important to you, then that's all that matter. Who cares about other people.
I initially expected the song "Pretty Woman" to be included, but it's also a pretty old song [no pun intended haha]. The songs you shared are really good. I haven't heard of them before, and the country music is really interesting.
We all like, and are triggered by, different things which I guess is exactly why that phrase exists in the first place.
I understand, one must love oneself I think you're trying to say, although I certainly care what other people think - People who I value and care for. That doesn't mean I do things just to make them happy that might not align with my own values, just that I like those people to think well of me, so I work towards being my best version and to be true to myself, which those people support and value also.

What is beautiful or not beautiful depends on the criteria that each person has, that is why for some people a pair of shoes is beautiful and for others it is not, for example.
The important thing is to feel beautiful and, as you say, to be surrounded by the things we like, that brings happiness to the eye and to the soul.
Many people only look at the superficial side of a woman, then they are surprised by the great inner being inside.

I agree that many look at women superficially and for that reason can miss the value of the true person, and I also know that women do it to each other and to men also; it's a human trait I think. Looking a little deeper is where one finds the true person though.
