Appreciation of who we are and where we are is very important, like you rightly said, if you haven't been In a particular situation you won't realize how painful such situation can be.
And some conditions are not worth wishing to anyone

At all, I wouldn't wish some conditions to even my enemy. We thank God for what we do have and hope in God for what we need.
