Yeah, I know the feeling... Add a bit here, make it more complex there and so on. And at the end you think "bollocks, it sounded best at the beginning." :)
And especially the Pink Floyd guitar sound (of the early years) was masterly in creating emotion with few notes. I think thats why people liked it so much, it was different to most of the hectic Rock music guitar sounds in the 70s.
