A REALLY NICE SATURDAY: Meditation, Writing, Music, Art

Greetings from Caracas, Hivers. How was your week end? Well, I had a nice week end. I was doing things I really like. And I did it in nice company. Saturday morning I meet with my buddhist friends and we meditated together. Since 25 years ago I practice meditation, that’s really good to me, meditation helps you to achieve peace of mind, helps you focus your thoughts better, but when I can do it with my buddhist friends it’s wonderful, I feel a special energy that I cannot feel when I meditate alone. I can connect with my best self. They are a really lovely group, you know. When we meet at saturday someone talks about an interesting subject about life, about applying Buddhist teachings in your life. I really enjoy meeting with them.

Saturday evening, I met with my students at Hacienda La Trinidad. More than 100 years ago It was an coffee and sugar cane plantation but since 2010 it’s a cultural park where you can visit galleries, a book shop, a spa, a chocolate store, a photography school, handicraft store, a restaurant, meanwhile you can enjoy nice green gardens. Actually, I’m teaching Creative Writing there. I teach different ways to stimulate creativity. This week end we were talking about fantastic literature, how your mind can create different worlds, changing worlds, nice or dark worlds, playing with your imagination.

I did with my students an exercise to show how some stimuli have an emotional effect and they produce some feelings when we perceive them. We heard several movies soundtracks and afterwards we talked about what feeling every soundtrack produced to them. I chose, of course, different kinds of music to produce different kinds of feelings. Because when you are a creative person often perceptions activate your imagination and your creativity. I will share with you only three soundtracks we saw and we heard, so you can enjoy too.

Well, since I was there, in Hacienda La Trinidad, I saw “The Right Posture ”, an art exhibition by venezuelan artist Jorge Pizzani. Great formato paintings. You can see great portraits, disturbing faces painted with bright colors, some group of persons that seems ghosts. An imaginary world that is not comfortable, not to me. But at the same time, in some way, paintings by Jorge Pizzani were interesting, attractive images. Show me a imaginary world that It’s like a dream, because the artist, does not want to show the real world, he shows the mind’s world. That can be dsiturbing I will share with you some pictures, so you can see what I’m trying to say.
