The soulless cry.
I thought it'd be different with you.
When darkness overshadowed the light,
And the sound of your scream pierced my already ringing ears,
I had thought with great humbleness that you were different,
Different from the souls I have met so far,
But lies… lies upon lies that made your truth flaming hot to touch.
I must have been blinded for a second.
Your dazzling beauty did get me, and your innocent look was musically unwritten,
Flawless was your charm,
A charm so blinding even the sun spoke elegantly of you,
There was no wrong for you were the right part with uncovered layers that can be re-assembled,
You were too good to be true that we were too blind to see the real you.
I must have coughed a million times per second.
When I saw that look in your eyes of the real you, which has been masked,
I knew. Just then, I knew there was more to you that meet the eyes,
More to you that aren't filled with compliments,
More to you that is filled with disgust, rage and shuddering breath,
Of the things you've planned for our future selves.
You came, just like the others did.
In style, you did with head bow like a brainless fool,
Whose aim was to help the long forgotten mentally deranged souls,
You came with such smiles that could command a shooting star,
And your ways were painted with glittering mats,
For so long, we believed, bowed and gave away our souls,
We thought we were happy until your skin was like a snake shed in ways we couldn't have thought.
We'd like to cry. We badly want to shed soulful tears.
But we didn't have one. No soul to carry our voices to the ears that could have heard,
We were left with tears that didn't matter,
And watched as you cried with us in painful mockery,
How hearts must have shattered a million times watching your tears spiral with hiccups,
It was then I knew. I knew we were lost in your abyss,
And the easiest thing to do was to accept our defeat..
Or find a way to live life anew.

Thank you 😊
What a beautiful poem.
Thank you
My friend would relate to this he has such bad luck dating. Just like your poem, starting off all naive and hopeful only to end up feeling disillusioned and betrayed. Your mini titles were interesting. I paritcularly liked 'the sun spoke elegantly of you'. It's certainly packed with imagery.
