Living, listening and traveling.
It started yesterday noon when a loud vibrating sound filled my ear drum while I was in a space. Thankfully, I just finished speaking and my mic was off which I was grateful for. The sound penetrated more into my eardrum and the way the ground shook, I almost thought it was an earthquake. Thankfully, it wasn't, though we may have bad leaders, there's one thing we don't get to witness and earthquakes are among them.
Upon venturing outside my house to see what was making the sound, I came face to face with a tractor moving past my house and the first thing that came to my mind was that surely, an election may be close by.
This and so much more I'll discuss is what brought me to the minimalist prompt on #Slow-living.
One thing was sure, having to listen to the sound of the tractor moving was chaotic to my mind. It was like a string that isn't meant to be struck was playing in my mind and I was disgusted by the sound. I dislike noise and that is why I can never be found in places where there's too much noise and if peradventure, fate puts me in that position, there are certain measures I carry out so as to not end up a mad person, in a room filled with humans that enjoys this.
Whenever I find myself in a place or situation like this, the first thing that comes to mind to calm my nerves is music. Just as Martin Luther has said;
Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us.
Evening falls by Enya. Came on as I write.
Music. I love music so much that the moment those beautiful songs on my playlist come up, it feels like I am not on this planet anymore. Like I have been transported to another universe filled with calmness and pure relaxation to my body and mind. With song, I get to accomplish a perfect serenity for myself despite the noise that may have taken hold of my environment. Just like this morning, when the tractor came again and I heard the sound, I quickly plugged in my ear buds and my morning has been beautiful so far.
The next on the list is a therapeutic skill I once mentioned I was picking up again after almost two decades.
I must have forgotten the beauty knitting brought to my heart. But, after picking up the knitting pin and my wool, I realized how sad it must have been to forget such a beauty and glad because of the memories it filled me with. Ever since I started knitting again, I have been smiling more and at more peace within me.
It is awesome because my emotional intelligence is high which means I notice a lot and also feel people's emotions. This can be frustrating sometimes and make me overthink because I end up wanting to help everyone. So, whenever that frustration sets in, I have noticed cooking helps me calm my nerves but I can't be cooking at all times which is why I am super happy I get to knit again because it helps with my emotions.
Also, I have been traveling a lot this year which also comes in handy in handling those hectic moments in my life. Going to a new environment and seeing unfamiliar faces helps calm my mind. And, walking close to nature or staring at the stars at night brings peace to my heart and makes my morning and day better.
This is my response to the Minimalist Community prompt with the question;
For #SlowLivingSunday, we want to hear about how you keep calm, relax and find peace in a chaotic, loud, hectic environment.
Images used are mine and video from #YouTube.
Still yours truly,
Balikis.
Thanks for reading and listening.
Peace be unto those who crave it and more to those who chase it away.
Wow, music, knitting and cooking. These are such fun hobbies to have, and the fact that you find peace in them makes it even more perfect .
It's been a while since I knitted. I might look back into it again. This was an amazing read.
Yeah, the peaceful pact I have with them makes them more fun.
That'll be very nice. Thank you 😊.
Listening to the construction workers outside my window while reading this, so very relatable at the moment. It can be hard, in this world of machines especially, to find stillness. So good on you for finding it :)
P.S.: I love Enya too :)
Yeah, it can be so hard to find stillness in our world. The construction workers are still moving around, and my earbud is still stuck to my ears 😄.
Wow... team Enya. I love that you love her 😘.
Both a blessing and a curse, for sure. It's a tight rope to walk, figuring out how to protect yourself but also remain attuned to other people's feelings and needs.
Overall, it sounds like you've got a good grip on things :)
Yes, it sure is, especially when I read the news. But, I am getting the hang of things.
Thanks for stopping by 😊.
Hello. Pls can you get me your discord or something cause I have some questions and things I will need to put me through
Hello. Questions regarding what? You can ask right here. I'll give an answer if it is something I know.
I just wanted to ask about the actifit app but I have been able to do it myself. Thanks so much
Alright.
Wow!! that was a killer introduction Balikis, for one minute I thought I was in the wrong community.
This was amazing Balikis and I enjoyed it. For the knitting part, I used to knit before but right now I don't know when I will go back to it though.
Good job!
Lol... killer 😅😅. Thank you.
It was nice having you around. Thanks for reading, too. Oh, that's nice. I hope you create time to start.
