Robert Plant

We went out to eat last night at Mexican Restaurant in a tiny town four or five miles from our home. Seated at a booth in the back, my husband went to get a toothpick and announced when he returned-

“Robert Plant is sitting back there in the first booth.” Picking his teeth with the toothpick.

I stare at him for a southern second.

“Bullshite. He isn't either.”

He comes right back at me after googling what RP actually looks like...

“Damn sure is, I really think so…he's watching videos on his phone and eating.” He's unphased by the possibility a creative genius could be in the same restaurant with us. Three booths down.

I've already decided whether it is or isn't I'm not going to disturb his quiet dinner with an intrusion to find out. I'll wait until he's at the register. That feels proper. I'm backwards shy, but I'm swallowing it and trying to steady my nerves.

However, I do scoot to the end of my booth so I can see when he gets up. I remind my husband how RP is on my list of people I’ld like to buy a coffee— a real one, not bmc.

We continue eating.

Then, I can hear the videos this gentleman is listening too…it's RP videos and I hear that distinctive voice singing three booths down from me.

My Lanta…

Now I'm getting ancy and forbid myself from fangirl behavior. Also sitting as much on the edge of my booth as possible without falling off.

I'm observing other patrons that have line of sight to his booth.

No one seems to notice anything. I'm thinking it isn't him. He would be recognized in our area.

Nobody is acting like they've caught a glimpse of the creative master. Lyrical genius.

Keep in mind the place isn't packed, for this small town still not a bad size crowd. Someone else besides my husband would notice Robert Plant.

Nothing seemed to register for the others in the resteraunt.

It wouldn't be unheard of for him to make a stop in this small Kentucky town, perhaps on his way to Louisville? He's been known to jam with a well known band or two in our county. He used to have a residence two counties over as well. It's also known he has been and is part of Kentucky's music scene. Insanely good music comes out of Kentucky.

So I'm sitting there figuring the odds if it is or isn't.

This man is at the register paying out now.

Even though I'm physically (and internally) on the edge of my seat, I still have to lean over and take a good look.

And if it's him, I'm going to casually walk right up to him & thank him for sharing his gift with all of us. Not even ask for a photo op either. Just say, “Thank you,” and ask if I can get his dinner (instead of a coffee.)

Deflated, I realized it wasn't him. This man could easily pass himself off as Robert Plant though.

Clearly, he has good taste in music.

Perhaps someday I'll get to buy him a coffee.

author screenshot of X post

The image for this post was created by me with Grok using blue moon and Kentucky Bluegrass as inspiration for an image prompt group on X.

I don't think it's ethical or right to generate images of high profile people to use for my content. Or anyone else's, especially if we are trying to monetize.

Clarification, I have shared an image of a dearly departed personality on X in celebration of them. I'll be glad to take it down if their estate should ever request I do so.

Now, in the beginning when the AI Art generators were new, I did generate a few non photo realistic of some of my favorites but have not and will not share them publicly. Ever.

The second image is a screenshot of one of my tweets with my thoughts about music during our current times.

Also adding trigger warning for grammar police.

This is the first essay of yours that I've read. It's so genuine and homey. Pure Kentucky. Hey, hey mama! The way you move... I hope you get to meet him!

I was wild to hear it too! Thinking it could be him. Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! I experimented with a laid back conversational tone. My dialogue skills stink & need a lot of improvement. You can take a hick out of the country...😂
