My favorite song and why it resonates with me
source
Right from the earlier stages of my life I have been a big fan of Michael Jackson's earth song. The song was one which I listened to with lots of emotions as the song’s lyrics talks about more of our actions which portrays our level of ignorance in destroying the beautiful thing we have with us in nature. When he talked about sunrise and rain, the first thing that came to my mind was our activities on earth as human beings which has greatly resulted in climate change and ozone layer depletion.
When he said what about killing fields, I thought of the level of weeding and deforestation which is massively going on in this world today which has also resulted in the homelessness of some wildlife.
Along the line in the earth song, Michael Jackson talked about something like, did you ever stop to notice all the blood we've shed before? At this point in time the first thing that actually came to my mind was a rough estimate of the number of people who had died during World War 2.

The sum total of all the armies and civilians from all the nations which died and were accounted for was really massive. It was so much the number of people who died during World War 2 which made me begin to wonder if the war was triggered because of the massive population of people in the world. I started wondering if that amount of lives can be lost and of course not all could be accounted for then how much more today when we have more powerful atomic bombs whose warheads weigh in mega tones.
I saw a documentary about the extent of damage the second atomic bombs did in Japan. You can imagine the tragedy that made an entire nation who were already giving the lives of their pilots in suicide to surrender.
The discovery of atomic bombs may be one of the worst discoveries humans must have ever made because it's not over yet.
There are still wars going on in the world and knew in a while there will be threats of nuclear war.
I feel that if we humans don't find ways to put to a stop the quest of power in the heart of each nation we will turn this earth to ashes and dust even before the end time. I've heard some people say that war is inevitable and this made me reason. One day when I was just alone after I had finished the little things I needed to do, the first thing that came to my mind was that if a movie has Part1 and then part 2, there is every tendency that there will be a part three especially where there is still rumors that it will still come out. When I thought about this it makes a little sense to me but my prayer is that it will not hold.
It amazes me that there are a lot of homeless people in the world today, a lot of people who can't even pay for their hospital bills and lots more but we human beings spend more money creating, protecting and upgrading weapons of mass destruction that will end up destroying the entire world. Though these weapons may still appear as weapons for national defense, how did we get to where we are today? Even to bury weapons of such capacities in our land in different silos still doesn't make it safe to be anywhere near our lands because this can cause serious earthquakes if not sink large land surfaces to the bottom of the ocean. Honestly I've heard of some islands in the past like Atlantis which remained under water till today. What monster have we created?
Is there a way we can fix things? If there will be a way to reverse the hand of time, we can at least disarm the nations of their deadly weapons that can hurt us and hurt the lives of other living things in our environment including mother earth.
Is it bad that the earth has always been supportive of our livelihood. We fam on it and it gives us food, we step on it while we walk and in fact I believe that as long as we don't start bringing foreign objects from space down to earth, we add no more weight to the earth because everything we get is mostly from what mother rather has to give us but at least wisdom and caution should be always applicable in all.

Song lyrics
In the earth song, Michael Jackson also made mention of the flowering fields, children dead from wars, the crying earth and the weeping shores. He also talked about the whale. It's quite emotional. I've seen videos where weapons of mass destruction was tasted in the ocean. In most of desires and actions let us always think of ways to preserve our own because everything on earth is ours to take care of. A person from China can do for you what no one has done for you in your hometown. There is unity in diversity and we're all relatives (brothers and sisters) here on earth no matter your location. Let's so each other more love even in times like this.
Thanks.
