The Slim Shady LP: From Comedy to Horror Hip-hop
Eminem became a star through the release of his mainstream debut album "The Slim Shady LP". It was a follow-up to his debut, an independent album, "Infinite". "The Slim Shady LP" made Eminem a success due to comedic hip-hop, and transforming to dark themes, which is horror hip-hop.
"The Slim Shady LP" was led by the track "My Name Is", which reached the top 10 on several countries, including the UK. In United States, it reached number 36 in Billboard Hot 100, while it peaked higher at 29 in Mainstream chart. The song's official video earned more than 200 million views, on its way to 300th.

The album's debut single (and its video) was comedic, and the second release was the same which was "Role Model". The song didn't do well at the charts though, entering merely the Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles at number 11. It still went Gold Record by RIAA.
The final single has been "Guilty Conscience" leaving his comedic side for a while, and had gone horrorcore. It was a hit in UK Singles Chart for reaching number 5. In United States, it didn't enter the Billboard Hot 100, but it was platinum in the country. It features rapper and producer Dr. Dre.
