Miss Thang: When Monica Arrived
Back in mid-1990s, there's been a trend when young R&B female singers achieved chart success. One of those singers is Monica, who had joined the ranks of Aaliyah and Brandy, as the two latter singers released their debut albums in 1994.
"Miss Thang" was the first album of Monica, which was released in 1995. The song was preceded by her single "Don't Take It Personal", which is an R&B with hip-hop and soul elements. It became a number 2 hit in Billboard Hot 100, while it reached number 32 in UK Singles Chart.

Monica scored her second Billboard top 10 single, particularly at number 7 through the single "Before You Walk Out of My Life" which was double sided with "Like This and Like That". In UK, the two songs are released as separate singles, with the former reaching number 22, and the latter at 33.
