Between The Tides Arts festival
The Between The Tides Arts Festval
A high light of this year for me has to be when the town of Walton-on-Naze came together as a I community, to host an arts festival at the autumn equinox
We had bands playing in the street art , beach art , a whole range of activities all arround the town in cafe’s, bar’s and spaces.
What made it really special was there was no single entity in charge . It was a collective effort born out of a proposal put forward ,by @queenoftheworld and our friend Elenor who runs the nose book shop, they addressed several local buisneses and interested community members whit the conept that we co-ordinate gigs ,exhibitions, markets ,activities ,poetry all across the same weekend under the banner of Between the tides arts festival.
As well as helping organise the festival at @queenoftheworld and myself were performing. We played on the Friday evening in Bruff bar and on the Saturday we performed at the market .
When we turned up on Saturday, the atmosphere was wonderful. You could see the Walton town was packed with people all the businesses such as cafés and bars were full of people looking at their programs to see what was going on this weekend.
That was a host of volunteers helping make sure that the festival was a success. I think that the communal nature of the way the festival was organised meant that it had a really positive attitude because everybody involved felt it was their festival.
When we talk to the business owners involved they confirmed that this was one of the most successful weekends of the summer and they were grateful that the festival had been organised as a nice end to the season
A great set was performed by Dog Show who got every one up for the party they did their set from a mobile platform that we pushed around town to add to the fun festival atmosphere.
