Recipe Morado (Post-Punk / Darkwave) #WorldGothDay

I want to tell you about the Venezuelan Post Punk / Darkwave band called Récipe Morado, something that excites me, since I am a proud friend and true fan since I heard their first songs, even without knowing them personally. I was trapped from the beginning in that rough and dark atmosphere, but still warm that his music conveys, all of this with an undeniably local stamp.

This band was initially formed between Caracas and the city of San Felipe, in the Yaracuy state around 2006, and since then it has been led by Juan Carlos Siniestra, who is already a legendary figure in the Venezuelan underground punk scene. Remembered for one of his earliest musical projects called Época de Recluta, a very active band in the Caracas punk scene of the mid-90s.

In Récipe Morado's musical proposal, one can notice influences from the dark and melancholic sound of the English bands that defined Post-Punk in the 80's, such as Joy Division, The Cure, Siouxsie & the Banshees, and the national rock group Sentimiento Muerto, all this heavily laced with the distortion-drenched rock of 90's bands like Nine Inch Nails, Hole, Pixies and Babes in Toyland.

With all of the band's artistic influences channeled into this somber soundtrack, they have built a distinctive musical style charged with minimalist rhythmic bases, haunting melodies and distorted guitars that harmonize the dreamy and dark atmosphere of Siniestra's surreal and introspective compositions.

During their journey, they have released several demos and EPs with which they have built a solid reputation in the alternative scene of the Rock and Goth movement in Venezuela and Latin America, participating in multiple compilations and international festivals.

The group managed to establish itself when they managed to release their first album, called "Rehabilitación", with the independent Peruvian label "Tumbas Eternas". This includes an essential selection of songs that have accompanied the repertoire of this musical project since its formation, an essential piece for any self-respecting contemporary underground and independent rock collection.

Locally, the band managed to participate in the latest edition of the New Bands Festival, in the Capital Region circuit, at the end of 2022. I had the honor of registering the concert where they had a luxury line-up, managing to incorporate Pavel Ruiz from the band Transporte Nocturno, and on drums Oswaldo Rodríguez, leader of Sur Carabela, an iconic Venezuelan trip hop project from the late 90s.

Récipe Morado also has a profile on our Hive blogging platform. In addition, he has been very active on Web 3 for more than a year. He already has his own collection of NFTS on the Tezos blockchain and has been a featured artist on the Audius platform, tell.ie and the DNS.xyz marketplace, the latter based on NFT music also on the Tezos network.

JC Siniestra (aka @formulaccs) insists that Récipe Morado is an entity that is constantly mutating. After several changes in their lineup, they are currently active with the friends Pavel Ruiz and Anthony, who have shared the stage and have been very active in the rock night circuit of the city of Caracas in recent months.

Currently, I am collaborating closely with this musical project in different ways. Soon we will tell you about some of the ideas that we are also working on to promote musical presence and artistic development on Web 3.

Quiero hablarles sobre la banda de Post Punk / Darkwave venezolana llamada Récipe Morado, algo que me entusiasma, ya que soy un orgulloso amigo y auténtico fan desde que escuché sus primeros temas, aun sin conocerlos personalmente. Quedé atrapado desde el principio en esa atmósfera áspera y oscura, pero aún cálida que transmite su música, todo esto con un sello innegablemente local.

Esta banda se formó inicialmente entre Caracas y la ciudad de San Felipe, en el estado Yaracuy alrededor del año 2006, y desde entonces está liderada por Juan Carlos Siniestra, quien ya es una figura legendaria en la movida punk underground venezolana. Recordado por uno de sus proyectos musicales más tempranos llamado Época de Recluta, banda muy activa en la escena punk caraqueña de mediados de los años 90.

En la propuesta musical de Récipe Morado, se pueden notar influencias del sonido oscuro y melancólico de las bandas inglesas que definieron el Post-Punk en los años 80's, como Joy Division, The Cure, Siouxsie & the Banshees, y del grupo de rock nacional Sentimiento Muerto, todo esto fuertemente aderezado con el rock empapado de distorsión de las bandas de los 90’s como Nine Inch Nails, Hole, Pixies y Babes in Toyland.

Con todas las influencias artísticas de la banda canalizadas en ese sombrío soundtrack, han construido un distintivo estilo musical cargado de bases rítmicas minimalistas, melodías inquietantes y guitarras distorsionadas que armonizan la atmósfera ensoñada y oscura de las composiciones surrealistas e introspectivas de Siniestra.

Durante su trayecto, han lanzado varios demos y EPs con los que han tejido una sólida reputación en la escena alternativa del movimiento de Rock y Goth de Venezuela y Latinoamérica, participando en múltiples compilados y festivales internacionales.

La agrupación logró consagrarse cuando lograron editar su primer disco, llamado “Rehabilitación”, con la disquera independiente peruana “Tumbas Eternas”. Este recoge una indispensable selección de temas que han acompañado el repertorio de este proyecto musical desde su formación, pieza infaltable para cualquier colección contemporánea de rock under e independiente que se precie.

A nivel local, la banda logró participar en la última edición del Festival Nuevas Bandas, en el circuito de la Región Capital, a finales del año 2022. Tuve el honor de registrar el concierto donde contaron con una formación de lujo, logrando incorporar a Pavel Ruiz de la banda Transporte Nocturno, y en la batería a Oswaldo Rodríguez, líder de Sur Carabela, icónico proyecto de trip hop venezolano de finales de los 90.

Récipe Morado también tiene su perfil en nuestra plataforma de blogs Hive. Además, se encuentra muy activo en la Web 3 desde hace más de un año. Ya cuenta con su propia colección de NFTS en la blockchain de Tezos y ha sido un artista destacado en la plataforma de Audius, Tellie.io y el marketplace DNS.xyz, este último basado en música NFT también en la red Tezos.

JC Siniestra, insiste en que Récipe Morado es un ente que va mutando constantemente. Después de varios cambios en su alineación, actualmente se encuentran activos con los panas Pavel Ruiz y Anthony, quienes han compartido tarima y han estado muy activos en el circuito nocturno rockero de la ciudad de Caracas en los últimos meses.

Actualmente, me encuentro colaborando cercanamente con este proyecto musical de distintas formas. Pronto contaremos algunas de las ideas que estamos trabajando también para potenciar la presencia musical y el desarrollo artístico en la Web 3.
