🌈Nice to be back here!

I'll start by saying that I had a while without doing music reviews because I had a certain disconnect with my musical side, I only listened to the music I'm used to, so I couldn't bring more of my opinions. However, an album came along that changed that, a gem of a Latin artist that made me say: I must come back NOW.

Empezaré diciendo que tenía tiempo sin hacer reseñas musicales porque tenía cierta desconexión con mi lado musical, solo escuchaba la música a la que estoy acostumbrado, así que no podía traer más de mis opiniones. Sin embargo, llegó un álbum que cambió eso, una joya de una artista latina que me hizo decir: Debo volver YA.

The jewel of the day is brought to us by Emilia, a young Argentinean singer and model that you can follow on instagram as @emiliamernes. She dabbles in Latin genres such as Pop Latino, Reguetón, giving nuance to her style with the occasional ballad.

Today, however, I want to comment on her most recent musical work, .MP3, her second studio album, which released six singles, including collaborations with great artists of Latin music, such as Nathy Peluso and Tini.

La joya del día nos la trae Emilia, una joven cantante y modelo argentina que pueden seguir en instagram como @emiliamernes. Incursiona en géneros latinos tales como el Pop Latino, el Reguetón, dándole matiz a su estilo con una que otra balada.

El día de hoy, sin embargo, quiero comentar sobre su más reciente trabajo musical, .MP3, su segundo álbum de estudio, que desprendió seis sencillos, entre ellos colaboraciones con grandes artistas de la música latina, tales como Nathy Peluso y Tini.

With this work, Emilia offers us a y2k vision of the urban genre, with a mix of diverse genres, passing through reggaeton and funk, without fear of adding dance pop to the project, bringing something fresh and without fear of experimenting. In the composition we can notice this influence of legendary artists like Beyonce, Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliot, especially in their 90s and 2000s eras, but seen from Latin eyes, almost like Thalia in Arrasando.

From my point of view the album feels like a hyper feminine version of Don Omar's Virtual Diva, Daddy Yankee's Noche De Entierro and Thalia's Arrasando, and the truth is that it is extremely interesting to listen to.

Con este trabajo, Emilia nos ofrece una visión y2k del género urbano, con una mezcla de diversos géneros, pasando por el reguetón y por el funk, sin temor de añadir dance pop al proyecto, trayendo algo fresco y sin temor a experimentar. En la composición podemos notar esta influencia de artistas legendarias como Beyonce, Christina Aguilera y Missy Elliot, sobre todo en sus épocas de los 90s y 2000s, pero visto desde los ojos latinos, casi como Thalía en Arrasando.

Desde mi punto de vista el álbum se siente como una versión híper femenina de Virtual Diva de Don Omar, Noche De Entierro de Daddy Yankee y Arrasando de Thalia, y la verdad es que es sumamente interesante de escuchar.

Visually, the album takes us to that y2k trend that continues to take strength and seems not to give up this year, and we notice it from the moment we look at the whole album, from the cover to the names of the songs, all ending with an ".mp3" that gives you the feeling of being back in that golden age of pop.

And the collaborations are simply out of this world, giving us that feeling of female empowerment that never ceases, with a heel-tapping Tini and the strong presence of Nathy Peluso, Argentinian women who enrich the genre with a quite pop and pink point of view. And with Ludmilla, the Brazilian performer, gives us a bit of diversity.

Visualmente, el álbum nos lleva a esa tendencia y2k dosmilera que sigue tomando fuerza y parece no rendirse este año, y lo notamos desde el momento en que observamos en todo el álbum, desde la portada hasta los nombres de las canciones, todas terminando con un “.mp3” que te da la sensación de estar de vuelta en esa época dorada del pop.

Y las colaboraciones son sencillamente de otro mundo, dándonos esa sensación de empoderamiento femenino que no cesa, con un taconeo de Tini y la presencia fuerte de Nathy Peluso, mujeres argentinas que enriquecen el género con un punto de vista bastante pop y rosa. Y con Ludmilla, la interprete brasileña, nos da un poco de diversidad.

The album doesn't stop at just being bop after bop but also gives us a slower closer, with songs that bring the beat down to the dance floor and give us a glimpse into her soul, and how fame can make you feel fake and be surrounded by people interested in your moment of brilliance.

Emilia didn't fail to surprise me throughout the album, with a fresh, light and enjoyable project. It's not perfect, but it's a pretty important second project, and it certainly deserves a lot more recognition than it gets. I haven't been able to get this beautiful Argentinian out of my head, and I have no doubt that it will have the same effect on those Latin pop fans looking for something fresh, urban and conceptual.

El álbum no se detiene en solo ser bop tras bop sino que también nos ofrece un cierre más lento, con canciones que bajan el ritmo a la pista de baile y nos dan una visión a su alma, y como la fama puede hacerte sentir falso y estar rodeado de personas interesadas en tu momento de brillo.

Emilia no dejó de sorprenderme durante todo el álbum, con un proyecto fresco, ligero y disfrutable. No es perfecto, pero es un segundo proyecto bastante importante, y sin duda alguna merece mucho más reconocimiento del que tiene. No he podido sacarme de la cabeza a esta hermosa argentina y no dudo que tendrá el mismo efecto en aquellos fanáticos del pop latino que buscan algo fresco, urbano y conceptual.

I close my opinion by rating the album with a concise 8 / 10, well deserved for bringing us a strong project that unfortunately is extremely ignored and underrated. I hope you can give a chance to this girl who deserves more visualization.

Cierro mi opinión puntuando al álbum con un conciso 8 / 10, bien merecido por traernos un proyecto fuerte que lamentablemente es sumamente ignorado y infravalorado. Espero que puedan darle una oportunidad a esta chica que merece más visualización.
