Z wczorajszej potencjalnej zorzy nic nie wyszło. Wzrost liczby cząstek płynących ze słońca na satelicie ACE wskazywał, że CME może się pojawić, więc czekałem do około północy, ale niestety nic nie dotarło. Pierwsze CME dotarło rano, ale okazało się mieć niekorzystne parametry. Drugie pojawiło się po południu i początkowo wydawało się bardzo solidne, ale parametry ponownie szybko zaczęły słabnąć, ale coś jeszcze się dzieje i lekka nadzieja się tli. Jeśli do nocy nie doleci potencjalny trzeci kandydat do wytworzenia solidnych warunków zorzowych, to całe wydarzenie może obyć się bez świateł północy w Polsce (wciąż jednak jest niewielka szansa, że trzeci CME się pojawi, bądź ten drugi z popołudnia się rozkręci).

Nothing came of yesterday’s potential aurora. The rising particle count from the Sun on the ACE satellite suggested a CME might arrive, so I waited until around midnight but unfortunately nothing came through. The first CME reached us in the morning, but turned out to have unfavourable parameters. The second appeared in the afternoon and initially seemed very promising, but its parameters quickly began to fade again. Still, something is happening, and a faint glimmer of hope remains. If a potential third candidate doesn’t arrive by nightfall to produce solid auroral conditions, the whole event may pass without any northern lights over Poland, though there’s still a slim chance the third CME shows up, or that the afternoon’s second one picks up again.

Ze spraw bardziej przyziemnych, to jeszcze rano mieliśmy nadzieję na wyjazd w Tatry, ale szybko to upadło. Sprawdziłem radary i niestety szanse na opad i burze były zbyt wysokie, żebyśmy chcieli wyruszyć. I tak wstępnie po raz kolejny przekładamy to na jutro z nadzieją, że będzie lepiej. Póki co prognozy dość optymistyczne na treking z powrotem przed 17 ze szlaku. Później może się zrobić już deszczowo. Znowóż jednak finalną decyzję podejmiemy rano. Nie potrafimy odpuścić tych Tatr. Dawno nas tam nie było.

On more earthly matters, this morning we still had hopes of heading to the Tatras, but that quickly fell through. I checked the radar and unfortunately the chances of rain and thunderstorms were too high to risk setting off. So once again we’re tentatively pushing it to tomorrow, hoping for better conditions. For now the forecast looks reasonably optimistic for a hike with a return from the trail before 5 PM, after which it might turn rainy. As always though, the final call will be made in the morning. We just can’t let go of the Tatras. It’s been a long time since we were last there.

Jako że zostaliśmy w domu, to żona zaplanowała sporo zajęć na ten dzień, w które nie omieszkała mnie zaangażować. Zaczęliśmy od dość konkretnych porządków naszej części domostwa, po czym całą rodzinką udaliśmy się do ogrodu sadzić kupione kilka dni wcześniej kwiaty ogrodowe. Czterech ludzi do sześciu kwiatów, więc musiało to pójść szybko. Przy okazji będąc w ogrodzie posprzątaliśmy samochód.

Since we stayed home, my wife had plenty of activities planned for the day and naturally made sure I was involved in all of them. We started with a fairly thorough tidy-up of our part of the house, then headed out to the garden as a family to plant some flowers we’d bought a few days earlier. Four people for six flowers, so it had to go quickly. While we were out there, we also gave the car a clean.

Po wspólnie z żoną przygotowanym obiedzie dotarł do nas zamówiony wcześniej nowy telewizor, który musiałem podłączyć, sprawdzić i ustawić odpowiednio według wytycznych teściowej, a to wcale nie banalne wymagania. Prawie godzinę mi to zajęło. Okazało się, że dekoder podłączony przez kabel HDMI nie przesyła teletekstu w taki sposób, aby można go było uruchomić z poziomu samego telewizora, jak miało to miejsce wcześniej przy podłączeniu przestarzałym już kablem typu EURO. Udało mi się jednak w końcu znaleźć możliwość uruchomienia telegazety z samego dekodera.

After a dinner prepared together with my wife, the new TV we’d ordered earlier finally arrived and I had to connect it, test it, and configure it according to my mother-in-law’s specifications, which are anything but straightforward. It took me nearly an hour. It turned out that the set-top box connected via HDMI doesn’t transmit teletext in a way that allows it to be accessed directly from the TV itself, as it used to be with the old EURO cable. Eventually though, I managed to find a way to launch teletext from the decoder itself.

Po całej akcji z TV ogarnąłem jeszcze lustro, które niemal spadło i rozbiło się wczoraj, ale na szczęście zawisło na jednym z haków po tym, jak mocowanie drugiego puściło.

After the whole TV ordeal, I also sorted out the mirror that had nearly fallen and shattered yesterday, thankfully caught on one of its hooks after the other mounting gave way.

Dalsza część dnia to już raczej chillout i odpoczynek z myślą z tyłu głowy, że jednak w nocy czekać mnie będzie jeszcze wyjazd w teren, choć trzeba przyznać… Aktualnie nie jest najlepszy okres na astrofotografię. W niemal całej już Polsce panują białe noce, co oznacza, że przez całą noc niebo nie staje dogłębnie ciemne. Światło słoneczne w jakiejś części całą noc minimalnie rozświetla nieboskłon i fotografowanie obiektów i zjawisk wymagających pełnej ciemności jest mocno utrudnione. Dlatego warunki musiałyby być naprawdę solidne, ale nadzieja wciąż nie umarła.

The rest of the day was mostly chilling out and resting, with the thought lingering in the back of my mind that I’d still be heading out into the field at night, though I have to admit… this isn’t the best time for astrophotography. Astronomical twilight barely ends across most of Poland right now, which means the sky never truly gets dark. Sunlight faintly illuminates the horizon throughout the entire night, making it very difficult to photograph objects and phenomena that require full darkness. So conditions would need to be genuinely solid, but hope isn’t dead yet.

Wczoraj zaczęliśmy oglądać nowy, czwarty już sezon lubianego przez nas serialu HBO “Stamtąd”. Dzisiaj czeka nas kontynuacja. Serial może do wybitnych nie należy, ale jednak trzyma w napięciu i na wieczory, kiedy chcemy po prostu odpocząć i coś obejrzeć czując przy tym lekki dreszczyk emocji, jest jak najbardziej dobrą propozycją.

Yesterday we started watching the new, fourth season of the HBO series From, which we’re both fond of. Today we’ll be continuing. It may not be a masterpiece, but it keeps you on the edge of your seat, and for evenings when you just want to unwind, watch something, and feel a little thrill, it’s absolutely the right choice.

Utwór trwa 5 minut i 26 sekund i został wyprodukowany przez Muse wspólnie z Danem Lancasterem oraz Aleksem Von Korffem. Otwiera go ponadminutowy instrumentalny wstęp zbudowany na syntezatorach, kinematograficznych bębnach i gitarach, po czym przeradza się w gęste brzmienie nawiedzających wokali, zniekształconych tekstur syntezatorowych i agresywnych elektronicznych wypełnień perkusyjnych. Premierze towarzyszyła spektakularna kampania promocyjna. “Hexagons” is the fourth single from the upcoming album The Wow! Signal, released on 19 May 2026 via Warner Records. The track runs for 5 minutes and 26 seconds and was produced by Muse alongside Dan Lancaster and Aleks Von Korff. It opens with an instrumental passage lasting over a minute, built around synthesisers, cinematic drums and guitars, before evolving into a dense arrangement of haunting vocals, distorted synth textures and forceful electronic drum fills. The release was accompanied by a spectacular promotional campaign. Two days before the official drop, the track was split into six one-minute snippets hidden within QR codes placed on billboards in London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Mexico City and Sydney.

The Wow! Signal to dziesiąty studyjny album Muse, zaplanowany na 26 czerwca 2026 roku. Jest to album koncepcyjny eksplorujący tematy kosmiczne i międzygwiezdne. Poprzedzają go single: „Unravelling” (czerwiec 2025), „Be with You” (marzec 2026), „Cryogen” (kwiecień 2026) oraz „Hexagons” (maj 2026). Płyta zapowiada się jako jedno z najbardziej ambitnych dokonań zespołu. Krytycy opisują nowy materiał jako kosmiczny prog-rock w najbardziej odkrywczym wydaniu, pełen rozmachu i technicznej śmiałości, który brzmi jak wyprawa w nieznane.

The Wow! Signal is Muse’s tenth studio album, scheduled for release on 26 June 2026. It is a concept album exploring interstellar and cosmic themes, preceded by the singles “Unravelling” (June 2025), “Be with You” (March 2026), “Cryogen” (April 2026) and “Hexagons” (May 2026). The record is shaping up to be one of the band’s most ambitious undertakings yet, with critics describing the new material as cosmic prog-rock at its most exploratory, full of grandeur and technical daring, sounding like a journey into the unknown.

Osobiście jestem wielkim fanem tej grupy. Jako miłośnik muzyki elektronicznej oraz rockowych gitarowych brzmień, znajduję u nich świetne połączenie tych dwóch muzycznych światów.

Personally, I’m a huge fan of the band. As someone who loves both electronic music and rock guitar sounds, I find in them a perfect blend of these two musical worlds.
