In the Intimacy of Musical Creation: A Visual Immersion in the Heart of the Artistic Process
It was neither predestined nor thought out in advance and perhaps that's why it was all the more enjoyable ! Hello there, yesterday I went to meet two old friends in one's flat and I was pleasantly surprised to find them in the middle of creating an original piece with four hands.
Of course, music is played and heard and one might not find much interest in looking at pictures about it. I would agree with part of that, but on the other hand, I'm launching this experiment so that you can tell me what you could feel through the images. What music could it be ? How do you imagine what is missing, what is not seen or not seen very well in my images ? And finally, what mental images could all this have suggested to you ? That's what interests me, but not only that.
A friend of mine had brought along his flute and the object itself captivated me like a little boy. The silver aspect, the technical impression with the round keys... everything was quite fascinating and it is this visual part that guided me in my images, at the time, as well as at the time of the composition of this article.
Because basically, while they were playing, I didn't have much else to do and so I chose to slip into that intimate creative moment. I think it was a good photographic exercise because even though they were generally static, I always had to readjust my framing and lighting to it. All the images you will see in this little visual narrative are shot on 35mm with my Nikon D5500.
My other friend was all at once on his Fender guitar, on the keyboards, the one of the piano as well as the one of his computer which recorded each musical phrase through the sound card...
It was particularly interesting to be the spectator of that and I think out of three hours in total I must have taken images for about 45 minutes. For me it's quite unusual to be a spectator, I'm more in the action and I usually let others observe, but it's not really in my nature. And that was the most enjoyable part of it all !
My friend plays the flute, an instrument he received as a birthday present a week ago. But don't worry, he has been playing wind instruments for several years, and what he was playing and the way he was doing it made me think of Japanese music, at times slower and almost lascivious and at other times more energetic and rhythmic...
Here are a few final details about this flute which has particularly intrigued and captivated me visually !
I hope that even without the sound, you will have enjoyed this report and that it will have given birth to sound images, fruits of the imagination and of the echo...
Thank you for your reading and the time of your visit, I wish you an excellent day, take care of yourself !

I have no knowledge when it comes to musical instruments but that flute looks like a great treasure in its field!
Me neither, and it was the same visual aspects that interested me a lot... but the music was great too !
