In the 90s there were many talented bands in the CIS. I will not specify, but the time was different, the atmosphere was different. Many were drawn to the West, at least that was the prevailing mood, in my opinion. One of the songs of that time, Good By America, performed by the Nautilus Pompilius group and Vyacheslav Butusov, was performed like their other hits from all over, from tape recorders, radios and televisions.

The song is like a song, but it reflects the aspirations and nostalgia for the country across the ocean, which was a symbol of success and prosperity. I will not write a word about politics, I will write about my feelings of that time. Symbols of the forbidden West, jeans, music "from behind the hillock", even elementary chewing gums, Fanta and Pepsi were considered something desirable and super-necessary. Yes, it was a critical time.

Today I do not urge you to be nostalgic, remember that time, just listen to this song if you are interested. I want to tell a short story about the famous student bar "Gaudeamus" in Odessa in the 4th dormitory of the OPU. I was lucky enough to live in this hostel from 1988 to 1992. Nice place, loved by the students. Foreign students often stayed there, from Morocco, Algeria and Syria. Also local "natives".)) Loud music, drinks, low-alcohol and stronger, but all this was under the strict control of the commandant of the hostel and the Komsomol authorities. In those years, I was the chairman of the DND of our course, because I was engaged in freestyle wrestling. We regularly patrolled the streets in our area and near the OPI. Entering our "Gaudeamus" we could sit and drink a cup of coffee. After that, we did not want to sleep on duty.))
