Hive Open Mic #153 - Head Over Feet (Alanis Morissette)
The Theme
This week's theme Tú Estás Conmigo current Hive Open Mic theme translates to "You are with me" and is one of those themes that leaves a little room for exploring; I have already seen some different angles published.
The Song
I had a few contenders for this week, but settled for beautiful Alanis on this occasion, because I feel that the lyrics fit the theme perfectly.
It is all about the admiration of someone who appears to do all the right things to win you over and easily succeeds in that undertaking.
I have always loved this song, just like many others of hers, but I tend to struggle to remember her lyrics, and reading song sheets is not something I like to do. I rather trip over and laugh it off.. 😄
I just about made it through this recording without hiccups.. haha
My Version
I've played this song a long while ago, although without the harmonica as I could never work out her "Dylan-style" of playing.. Sometimes it's easier to play the melody than trying to copy some random notes.
However, Alanis needs the harp added so I gave it another shot, and find that this time I figured something out that sort of resembles what she is doing on the original version.
Final Words
I've put the recording together with Kdenlive which @steevc mentioned in one of his drumming posts; early days, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it.
I hope you like my version of this great song, which shall be firmly added to my songbook, as it should have been ages ago!

very good interpretation, I love alanis, she is one of my favorite songs, the simple style she had of writing is beautiful, I think to this day I'm still trying to get "ironic" but it's just too much to memorize haha, it has been a complete pleasure to listen to you, best regards.
I play "Ironic" too, the lyrics are fine, but I need to work out the guitar picking.
I struggle with "Hand in my Pocket", it doesn't make sense somehow.. lol

I understand what you say, I also have some difficulty with my right hand with their songs, no doubt they have their complexity hahaha maybe someday I will dare, when I no longer have to read all the lyrics haha, tuning the ear and pronunciation is complicated but while I can listen to me with some of those that if I get better hahaha
