Open Mic: January 25 2024
We tried out an open mic on Bedford run by Mat. He lives in Bedford and runs quite a few there plus some in Cambridge where we met him first.
The Flowerpot is a lovely little pub and seems to be enjoyed by the locals, there were a fair few people drinking and chatting.
Parking is a bit of an issue but there is some round the back that is free after 6pm so chances are that we go again.
The only problem is, that his system isn't set up for duos so we might have to take a few bits next time.
Here's a shot of us that one of the guys took of us where I had to improvise with the mic and my tin whistle. Can't hold both and must remember to take my folding mic stand next time.. 🙄

I've not been to that pub in many years, but I saw a couple of bands there about 25 years ago around the time I finished my degree. It is not a very big place. I was in the music shop just up the road last weekend. They have a good range of stuff.

Ah,yes, you are a Bedford boy.
I don't know why it's got such a bad reputation, I like it!
I've heard people comparing it to Luton.. no way!!
I've not had any trouble there. Every town has some issues, but Bedford has some nice features such as around the river. It's very culturally mixed, but that was not too much of an issue when I was growing up there.
It sure is full of nice old buildings and pubs.
