Jam to the Rescue: November 8 2023
Hello lovely people!!
Long time no see! I must admit my mind is not 100% on Hive right now, but I'm working on it.. 😃
I've not had a very good time lately.. On Saturday my car broke down and is now a non-starter.. Next task is to tow it over to the garage..
That minor hiccup jeopardises a few things, so I better get on with it.
My neighbour Elke, funny enough also from Germany, can hopefully help.
My (new) phone has been returned for a refund, I figured it must have been refurbished which wasn't clear. Photos are back to sub-standard while I'm using my old one again. Incredible how the photo quality has changed in recent years.
Oh, and did I mention that I had last week off? I obviously spent some time looking for work, but I managed to get out too.. Will post about that in due course.
I must also not forget that I picked up a nasty cough which comes and goes. Last night was Jammer's Night and I wasn't sure if I should go as singing wasn't probably an option, but I did and it was fabulous! Feeling better for just being there!
I stayed with low key songs and all went well, I even did one with Mike who played the lead guitar on "Don't Marry Her".
I am looking forward to the first Open Mic at the White Horse in many, many years and must make sure I take some videos to show, not like yesterday when I only took a couple of pics, two Steves, Richard and myself are missing from them.. 😄

That was a fun session last night and I'm not sure I heard you cough. Did you have some Fisherman's Friends? Rod does have some great songs. It's a little special when he does something by the Beatles as he actually knew them. I was working through some songs I've not played in a while as I would just play the same ones as recent sessions otherwise.
The open mic should be fun. We need to show the pub that it's worth doing more often.

I was lucky to find some Fisherman's in my guitar bag, but normally the black Hall's are my favourite and work best, had forgotten them though..
Rod knew the Beatles? That is so cool, didn't know that!
Would be good if we could get more open in the real meaning of the word and get others involved more, otherwise it gets a little stale and punters like surprises, well, not the bad ones.. 😄

We do need some 'fresh blood' in the Jammers. Last time the guy behind the bar said he would come to play. We've not had anyone new in a while. Some may worry that it could get too big, but we can worry about that when it happens. I don't want it to be an exclusive club. You are I were the youngest ones there!

Re involving others:
Some people are probably nervous having others around as they don't feel good enough but we can't exclude people. The pub won't like that, they need the income.
I always felt it too exclusive being posted on the Jammers FB page, we need to make it known.
