I write a lot and sketch along the way... I find that my thoughts are better organized when laid out visually on paper... For me, it's not so much about the 'writing', but rather the presence of a paper - where my thoughts can have a unique physical space to reside.
It's a sort of little psychologic auto-therapy for me. Then I read my thoughts on paper and now I know what to do. In order. I can give priorities. I can choose what to do today and what tomorrow. I can set deadlines.
Definitely a therapeutic activity, also gives you a sense of productivity and creativity... The mind loves to experience patterns - an seeing your own thoughts organized in actionable pattern is very pleasing.
