Me, circa 2000

My best friend is a tenor and flautist of some renown in our city and he always reminds me what a "bad" friend I am by not going to all his concerts, but it's just that classical music is not really my thing, I know that for some people it's relaxing and even cathartic, but not for me, I can enjoy some pieces, for example Tchaikovsky like "The Dance of the Sugar Fairies", some Schubert or Schopin but for long periods of time I don't tolerate it much, even stress me out a bit.

On the other hand, I do like country music, I don't consider myself a great "connoisseur" but I quite enjoy for example Taylor Swift's first albums which were quite country, nowadays I listen almost daily to: Sparks fly, Our song and Mean, also in my Spotify you will find songs by Tim Mcgraw, Blake Shelton, Lady Antebellum, Carrie Underwood and one of my favourite songs for years now is "Country roads, take me home" by John Denver, which curiously I met while I was on exchange in Germany.

That one time Roger performed Carmina Burana

But well, from my photo you'll know that my favourite genre since 1994, that is, time immemorial haha! Is Rock. Maybe not in its purest and classic Elvis Presley style, but in its more contemporary or alternative interpretations, like punk rock, because my favourite band in the world, that the day I see them I'll probably die of emotion is Blink-182 (yes, very millenial of me). I'm also a big fan of bands like Green day and The strokes, which by the way, if you've never heard "The new abnormal" go listen to it, because it really is an amazing project, in fact, it made the pandemic a LOT more bearable for me. Other bands in my repertoire are Goldfindger, Pennywise, Artic Monkeys.

With my cousin at colombians "Rock al parque" festival back in 2018

Also thinking about what to say in this post, I realized that I consume a lot of rock in other languages, like Spanish which is my mother tongue, among these the classic Soda Stereo (Argentina), Hombres G and Los Prisioneros (Spain) and from my native Venezuela, Caramelos de Cianuro, Los Mesoneros and the extinct Americania, which is in my top 5 favourite bands. And well, I consume German rock like Die Aertze, Rammstein and Tokio Hotel. Finally I would like to add a little bonus, since we are talking about music, so I have to mention that next to rock in my little heart urban music has a special place, in my day to day I always listen to Bad bunny, Rauw Alejandro, Plan b, Zion y Lennox and of course classics like Daddy Yankee and Don Omar.

That's all for this weekend. Thanks for making it this far.

Got to see Bad Bunny in 2022

Nice one going all in for rock music. Hehe, I do love them as well and all others as well. I am greedy . Hehe.

Yes! There's something súper wholesome about country music that can't be explained.

I love how universal can be, i don't think it makes you greedy.

Thanks for your comment :)
