Illmatic is Nas' first album, and this is the first song after the Genesis intro. This track is full of energy, and it's Nas' debut into the world of rap.

Nas is an East coast icon, and in this track he describes his mindset and the way he wants to do business. This song is on my playlist after almost 30-years as a pump up song that has a great beat and strong lyrics from Nas in his prime.

Nas draws heavily on the energy that was happening on the East coast in the early 1990s. Nas, Jay-Z and Biggie were bigger than life at the time, and the strong energy, great samples and beats and aggressive lyrics are alive and well in this song.
