True Love Stands The Test Of Time.
The sweetest kind of love is Pragma love.
In our present generation, the word love has been so overused over the years that it has actually lost its meaning.
I've seen people professing their love for each other but wouldn't prove it when the time arose. Some let the littlest things tear what they've built over the years because of misunderstandings that could have been sorted out, while others are greedy, cheating, and claiming to love the other person.
But today,I saw true love in action, and this revived the hope that true love does exist if only people look beyond physical appearance and material possessions.
It might be rare to find, but I am aware that true love does exist. Unselfish and enduring love truly exist, as I am just returning from a love feast where the two beautiful couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and I felt mushy during the celebration.
I watched how Pa. Johnson held onto his wife as they both stepped outside; their hair was gray and their faces were already wrinkled, but they were enough for each other.
The program was so interesting. It began with how they met; they both told us the story of how they met, and the funny thing is that they found love in the weirdest place. Love can be found in a place you least expect it. That's why we need to have an open heart whenever we go.
Most people shut their hearts because of the hurt they might have experienced in the past and sometimes lose out on real and genuine love.
The Johnsons told us how they became friends for many years before they actually got married, and I admire that a lot. I really do not fancy dating a person just immediately after you see that person. I believe true love begins with friendship. When you are friends with each other, you become real to each other, and from there, the feelings begin to grow.
The Johnsons told us the ingredients that have kept their marriage this long, which are patience, communication, forebearance, forgiveness, and a little act of kindness.
Knowing your love language is very important, and understanding your partner's love language makes it even sweeter.
During the program, this song was played, and I kept smiling all through as they held their hands and danced slowly in front of the audience, cheering them on.
Shania Twain: You're Still the One
This song is just perfect for the program because the lyrics say it all.
Love requires effort, nuturing, and maintenance.
Pa. Johnson told how he had so many obstacles during their courtship—many things—and people didn't want to see them together, but they kept holding on and putting effort into proving the people wrong.
The Johnsons renewed their marriage vows in front of the crowd, and I pray for this kind of love.
Only true love will face and pass the test of time, which is why it's important to measure twice and cut once before embarking on the journey called "marriage."
Marriage is not all roses; some days it gets tough, but the willingness to make it easy for each other makes the journey worthwhile.
With constant love, support, compromise, tolerance, forbearance, and communication, love will thrive.

Pragma love, well I had never heard of that. You are right though people bandy around love like it is confetti. We all have our flaws, if people can't accept that then all relationships are doomed.
Yeah, which is why Forbearance is very important in relationships.
Oh my so many long words for me this early in the day 🙃 Did someone swallow a dictionary for breakfast!
Hahahahaha🤣🤣🤣🤣, maybe I did.
Shania Twain is one of my favourite singer and I always sing "you're still the one". Such a lovely and romantic song.

@amiegeoffrey That's how it is,
"Marriage is like a dance; sometimes delicate and graceful, other times tangled and challenging, but always beautiful when danced with love and commitment."

That must be a really wonderful celebration. Congratulations to them. Marriage needs constant work and we should not neglect to do what is needed to keep it going. It's great that they shared their experiences and thanks for sharing with us too, so we can learn from them :)
