Once upon a time...

Almost every good fairy tale starts with "Once upon a time". Our today is all a product of our yesterdays and our tomorrow is dependant on our today. Once upon a time we had people that were responsible over us. As time passed by we started being responsible over ourselves. As time continues to go by we gradually start becoming responsible over the people who Once upon a time were responsible over us. Life just couldn't cite a better example of a cycle.

Once upon a time we had that love of my life (even though we did not even know what real love was all about)when we were still very much younger who we fantasied spending the rest of our lives with. Writing love letters was the trend back then. I remember a funny story back then when I was in secondary school of a mine of mine that wrote one to his crush. But it turned out the girl didn't feel the same. Not only did she turn the guy down, she took the letter to her elder brother and reported it to him. You know how brothers can be protective of their younger sisters when it comes to these kind of things. That incident made me scared to pick up a pen a write anything called love letter.

Once I was seven years old... I remember the first time I heard this song. I instantly fell in love with it. You could say it was love at first hearing. I remember it playing one time on the radio in the living room while my mom and dad where present and the line which said "...once I was seven years old, my Daddy told me go get yourself a wife or you'd be lonely..." and then my mom and dad looked at each other and smiled at themselves, I found that quite beautiful. I guess Lukas Graham spoke to my dad in particular in that line.

We don't dwell in the past, but it wouldn't hurt reflecting on it from time to time. Sometimes they serve as a good reminder of the time while we were still zealous and full of hopes and dreams which makes us challenge ourselves to get back up on our feet and do what needs to be done. And for those who are already on track but along the way they get stuck due to one or two obstacles that emerges and feel like giving up it reminds them of why they started off with that journey in the first place and also how far they have gone for them to think of giving up.

There are a million ways I can relate to this song. It brings to mind memories of different kinds; the good, bad and even the ugly ones. It also provides us with a vital information of how nothing lasts and how the present eventually ends up in the past. This makes us realize of how important it is that we make maximum use of the time we have at hand so that it counts in the future.
