My friend @uwelang, a music lover, also knows my fondness for one of the greatest musicians of all time, Giovanni Giorgio (Hansjörg) Moroder. Yesterday I was a bit confused and thought it was 23 April and not 26 April, Giorgio Moroder's birthday. He turned 85 yesterday.
When he moved to Munich at the age of 28, he landed a big hit with Looky, Looky, which was not very close to his style. Giorgio founded Musicland Studios, a studio in Munich that made music history. Bands such as Iron Maiden, Rainbow, ELO, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Iggy Pop, Queen and several other great bands have recorded their albums here. Donna Summer's success can be traced back to Giorgio and Musicland Studios, where her greatest hits were recorded and composed by Giorgio.
He also composed film scores such as Take My Breath Away for Top Gun, Chase for Midnight Express and the music for Flashdance, all of which won awards. He is known as the father of disco, although he has given much more to the music world than disco. Many thanks for that.
