Beyond Melody

The song "more than a Song" by Dunsin Oyekan has always got me thinking and wondering who God is and what He actually wants from us. As the supreme being and Almighty that God is, we all know He deserves our worship and praise. When we think deeply, we see reasons to thank and worship God. We are saved, protected and provided for by God and we have nothing to give Him than to worship Him.

However, this song now makes me see worship from another perspective. The song tells us that worship is beyond songs; worship is beyond voice and worship is beyond melody. "more than a Song" makes us to understand that we can present ourselves as worship unto God. While this does not imply that we have to slaughter ourselves as sacrifice but to present our body holy before God. It implies we should offer our entire being to God, not withholding anything. Giving our all in all to God is a higher form of worship. Being conscious of how we use are body because it's holy sacrifice for God is a deeper form of worship. This song teaches me to worship God in truth and spirit.

As I reflect on the lyrics of "more than a Song", I'm reminded that true worship is not just about external actions, but about cultivating a deep and intimate relationship with God. It's about surrendering our hearts, minds, and bodies to His will, and allowing His love and presence to transform us from the inside out. When we worship God in truth and spirit, we open ourselves up to His power and presence, and we experience the joy, peace, and freedom that come from knowing Him.

I have more than a song
Today I brought myself
I am the sacrifice
I have more than a song
Today hey I brought myself
I am Your worship
I have more than a song
Today I brought myself
I am the sacrifice
I have more than a song
Today I brought myself
I am Your worship
… Lord receive
This living sacrifice

Accept this living sacrifice
I am Your worship say I have more than a song
… I have more than a song
Today I brought myself
I am the sacrifice
I have more than a song
Today I brought myself
I am Your worship
I have more than a song
Today I brought myself I am the sacrifice
I am the sacrifice
I have more than a song
Today I brought myself I brought myself I am Your worship
I am Your worship say receive
