Christmas is a day we remember Christ's magnificent birth, which was necessary for his marvelous work of Salvation, and which was born out of God's love for humanity. Many activities have been introduced into this magnificent event over the years, making it a perfect season to share, express, and celebrate love, peace, and happiness with one another.

The Christmas season has a distinct beauty and elegance that reminds us of the events surrounding Christ's birth, as recorded in Matthew 1:1-2:23 and Luke 1:26-38; 2:1-20. Similarly, the songs of this season remind us of the same, thus we hear songs about the birth of Christ, the night he was born, the lovely singing of the choir of angels, and the humble manger he was born in, amongst other themes.

As a result, Afri-tunes is launching a Special Christmas event to create a special vibe on Hive for the Christmas season as a way of displaying love, unifying every culture and language through music, and promoting the love and joy of Christmas.

Yes! Yes!! Yes!!!

We want to hear the beautiful Christmas songs in your native language.

Therefore, for this particular event, each participant is invited to compose or sing a cover of any Christmas song in any traditional or native language. The lyrics should be written in the same language as the music, with an English translation included. Also, let us know what this song means to you and why you chose it as well.

PRESENTATION REQUIREMENTS

• Compose or present a cover of a Christmas song
• Sing in any native language of your choice (except English)
• Give your best!
• Don’t frown while singing...😁
• Express your song through any African musical genre or style: Afrobeat, Afro-Jazz, Amapiano, Highlife, Makossa, Soukous, Sebene, Fuji, Tungba, Juju, Ogene, Apala, Palm Wine Groove... etc.

OR

• Express your song through any genre which has elements or influences of African tunes in it: Reggae, Samba, Salsa, Calypso, Rumba, Afro-Venezuelan music, Blues and Gaita Zuliana... etc.

• Videos should be exclusively for the Afri-tunes Christmas Event

NB:

• English songs will be accepted if you are from United Kingdom or the US.
• Songs that have English lyrics in it will also be accepted, provided that the native language dominates.
• Songs in Pidgin English is accepted.
• For instrumentalists who would play without singing, try, if you can, to include a YouTube link to the same song sung by a choir so that listeners may more readily connect with the tune.

• Upload Video:
  • Either via 3speak frontend
  • Or YouTube video Via Ecency frontend
• Use the unique tags of the event in any order of your choice:

• Use the unique tags of our sponsors:

  • #tunes (optional - music suffices)
• Include “AFRITUNES CHRISTMAS EVENT” in your title
• Say your username, event name and the title of the song you wish to present before you begin to sing.
• Let your Word Count be 250+
  • Include your reason or inspiration for choosing the song.
  • Mention the language and musical genre of the song.
  • Put down the lyrics of the song along with its English translation,
• PROPERLY cite all external materials (videos, images and text) – ENSURE TO PUT THE LINK TO THE SOURCE
