Aqualung, by the progressive rock super band Jethro Tull, an iconic song from the early 70's, in which Ian Anderson would capture his genius, as in the rest of his works of art.
This song addresses the theme of manifest misery in an elderly beggar named Aqualung. He is a fictional character, based on a photographic image that Ian's wife took of a homeless man in London.
Musically, this song is somewhat confusing, as it goes beyond the standards for the time. As Ian would say in an interview "It's a real and tortuous mess of chords, but it was designed to take us from here to there until leading us to the most melodious acoustic passage of the composition."
I hope you enjoy it!
