Coffee in the West End - Latin Jazz, Cacophony and Scaffoldings
Coffee In The West End
This might come as a shock to some that know me well but, sometime last month, I decided to reduce my coffee intake drastically. I do this periodically because, being a coffee addict, I tend to have phases when I drink way too much of it. As a general overhaul of my unhealthy habits, it is one of the things I've changed in the past few weeks.
Another is actively drinking more water first thing in the morning. I usually take a spoon of vinegar and lemon juice (freshly squeezed) with it to match the acidity of my gut.
I usually have a maximum of two cups a day now so I drink one at home, and one in the cafe. If I have to work in the cafe all day, or I'm meeting a friend, then I skip the home one in favour of some kind of herbal tea.
While out in town the other day I stopped at this place that I've known for over two decades now. It turns out that they'd started serving coffee not too long ago, so I decided to try it. It's right bang in the middle of central London with the maximum cacophony imaginable. It's so loud there with all the human and vehicular traffic, as well as the machine nosies from heavy and constant construction works, that it all sounds like white noise.
Talking of construction, the usually tropical feel of the bar and outside sitting area was ruined by all the scaffolding around the very vintage buildings towering overhead. I can imagine that some of these buildings need a lot of maintenance, being so old, so at least the facades are always being cleaned up.
It didn't bother me much, the cacophony, but I had it tuned out thanks to my very amazing noise-cancelling earphones. I had some Latin Jazz playing in my ear while sipping the coffee. A much pleasant experience indeed.
Peace & Love,
Adé
