Rock and Pop Treasures on Vinyl

turntable-intro.jpg

Hi friends of this community and fellow Hive collectors! We're continuing with this month's theme and showcasing more vinyl records.

A few days ago, I shared my Beatles vinyl collection in this post. Today, I'll be sharing some of the rock and pop LPs I listen to most often at home. These are the English-language songs that touched so many hearts, and listening to them brings back beautiful memories of a golden age of music that we'll never forget.

Billy Idol (Rebel Yell)

I bought this album years ago in Warsaw, and just seeing and hearing it brings back memories of my teenage years, when we spent time with my mother, her family, and my sister.

It was the second album by this British singer, released in 1983. It was a huge success, both for the catchy rhythms of his songs and for his image with that spiky blond hair, which was a sensation at the time and how he became known.

Pink Floyd

Delicate Sound of Thunder compiles the songs on two discs, from their live performances, on a 5-night tour they did in New York in 1988.

Bon Jovi achieved great popularity with catchy melodies and choruses that resonated with young people. Rod Stewart, with his distinctive voice and impeccable blond hair, also gave us many hits such as "Maggie May," "Hot Legs," and many others.

Among sound enthusiasts, one question always arises: Is vinyl the highest quality analog audio format?

Opinions differ; some say yes, others believe it's magnetic tape. I lean towards the latter, since the first sound recordings were made on reel-to-reel tape recorders.

It is on these tapes that the audio is most faithful to the original recording, whether recorded in a studio or live on stage. When listening, the music is perceived as having more body, dynamic range, and realism. It was from this initial medium that the audio tracks were later transferred to vinyl records. Today, this process is almost always done using digital masters.

This trio includes Whitesnake, a British hard rock band. Known in Europe as 1987, this album was their eighth studio album and achieved great worldwide success.

The Rolling Stones' album, Play with Fire, in its Russian version, and Nuestro Primer Amor, a compilation album featuring various groups, made in Venezuela in 1991, delight us with bands like Guns N' Roses, Gary Moore, Steelheart, Tesla, Aerosmith, Night Ranger, and others.

Paul McCartney (Wings Over America)

We will always remember this band's first live album, where Paul with Wings in 1976, captivated the audience with his great repertoire of songs, including some Beatles tracks.

Queen

Everyone knows this band that made history in music, because of Freddie Mercury's wide vocal range, his ease and his stage creativity.

Some of the Top Albums:

Here we have the iconic album from this British progressive rock band, Dark Side of the Moon, the group's most sought-after album among audiophiles. It was their eighth studio album and was released in 1973.

Just as people find harmony and empathy with some musical genres but not others, something similar happens with audio equipment.

When I want to fully immerse myself in a sound experience, I use audio equipment that harmonizes well with the musical genre I want to play.

For rock and pop-rock records, I usually use the Technics SL-1600MK2 direct-drive turntable. As an integrated amplifier, I use the Pioneer SA-8500, with a precise tone network for both treble and bass, which you can see on the left in the photo. For speakers, I use the Pioneer CS-99A 5-way speakers with a 15-inch woofer.

To listen to pop, I use the equipment on the right, with separate preamps and power amplifiers. I use the Pioneer C-73 and M-73 models. The turntable is the PL-1100 from the same brand, and the speakers are from the Infinity Crescendo series, model CS-3009.
