My Cuban music collection on CDs (Part Two) Final

cover-post2.jpg

"Musicians want to be the loud voice for many silent hearts" (Los músicos quieren ser la voz alta para muchos corazones silenciosos).

Billy Joel

Five days ago you could enjoy the First part of my collection of CDs of Cuban music. It was very nice to read @chocolatescorpi's comment as she was filled with emotion when watching a video by David Blanco that condenses an impeccable audiovisual work.

Today we continue with the final part of my digital compact discs of music. Those rhythms that come from the influence of the different historical stages that our country has had and that has been the genesis of the different styles so varied that we have.

If a popular dance music band is iconic in Cuba and in the world, it is Los Van Van. Created since 1969 under the direction of Juan Formell. In these two albums, they compile many of those hits that have been able to contour the bones of thousands of people.

Legado Formell y los Van Van, 2017

La Formell Manía. Antología Juan Formell y los Van Van, 2013

A fabulous set consisting of two CDs that includes many hit songs. Band considered heritage of Cuban music.

P1070181.JPG

Bendición de los Orishas, 2006

For those who like the African Yoruba religion, in this work, you will find a cocktail of songs from various authors, whose lyrics have to do with spiritual deities also called Orishas.

P1070187.JPG

Nelson Valdés (Cubriendo ausencias) 2019

The lyrical purity of the singer with his Nueva Trova style, puts in his songs messages ranging from love to Cuban realities.

P1070190.JPG

Raúl y Pablo, 2008

The union of Pablo Milanés with the troubadour Raúl Torres, join in this project to add their voice timbres, and give us an album with beautiful songs.

P1070186.JPG

Chucho y Pablo (Más allá de todo) 2007

Encounter between two titans of Cuban music. Chucho Valdés is one of the most renowned Latin jazz pianists, and Pablo Milanés has a unique voice timbre.

Between an atmosphere of voice and piano, they merge in this album, to give a work that we will not forget.

P1070185.JPG

Silvio Rodríguez (Oh, melancolía) 1989

A singer-songwriter who wastes poetry in his songs, who paints with details, the situation of his country and his people. Only with his stringed instrument and his voice, they are enough to touch the feelings of many.

In this album he adds the work of another of the founders of the Nueva Trova Cubana: Pablo Milanés, together with the Choir of the National School of Arts of Havana.

P1070183.JPG

Polito Ibañez (De las manos y los pies) 2013

Among the new Cuban composers, the voice of Polito stands out for the clarity of his lyrics. He integrates the new generations of the Trova, linked to a style that caresses the Pop, Jazz and Rock.

Silvio Rodríguez (Silvio) 1992

P1070199.JPG

Chucho Valdés (Tumi Sessions) 2007

Everything that comes from Chucho is to have the sonorous DNA of a man who has positioned himself at the top of the international podium. A being with 82 years, with a great trajectory dedicated to his musical career, to give to the world a unique sonorous legacy.

P1070184.JPG

Septeto Nacional Ignacio Piñeiro (Soneros de Cuba) 1998

Group that manifests that Son, which is the sonorous soul of our country, and that came from the rural zones of the Oriental zone of Cuba.

P1070191.JPG

P1070192.JPG

Chucho Valdés presenta a Carlos Miyares, 2011

For those who like the saxophone, Carlos Miyares will please you with this solo album, where Chucho Valdés was in charge of its production.

P1070193.JPG

David Alvarez y Juego de Manos (Mundo loco) 2000

Musician who started in the Nueva Trova Cubana, with a musical style that recreates Caribbean music.

We always remember him in his first audiences, with his head covered with a handkerchief, and that song that I personally loved, entitled "Cuida'o Cuida'o Cuida'o", where Loidis Esther, one of the women in his group, blew her flute expressing beauty and refined sensuality on stage.

P1070197.JPG

Marvin Freddy (Fiesta Gigante) 2017

This album is a compendium by Marvin Freddy Fenty Leonard, a young creator of popular dance music. The name itself indicates that it was made to energize party moods.

P1070198.JPG

Compay Segundo y Buena Vista Social Club (Lo mejor de la vida) 1997

Artistic name chosen by Máximo Francisco Repilado Muñoz, and that earned, along with the project Buena Vista Social Club, to touch the international podium.

Nobody imagined that the name of a bar in Havana would become a legendary musical epicenter. That it would inspire an Oscar-nominated documentary film and an album with the same name, which won several Grammy awards, to raise the prestige of Cuban music even higher.

P1070200.JPG

Compay Segundo (Grandes éxitos) 2000

P1070211.JPG

Orquesta Aragón (Grandes éxitos.1939-2006) 2006

Founded 85 years ago, this group has earned the respect and popular taste for its musical successes in the genres of salsa, timba, guaracha, chachachá and danzón.

P1070206.JPG

Alfredo Rodríguez (Sagitario) 1994

Known by all as Alfredito Rodríguez, he is a singer who brings great passion and romanticism to his shows. He is a sensitive man and a great son, who has dedicated his songs to talk about love, heartbreak, and the contrasts of life.

His album Sagittarius, and the song of the same name, which is his zodiac sign, and mine too, still nests in the secular memory of a generation of Cubans.

P1070205.JPG

Liuba María Hevia (Colección de 30 años) 2013

A composer and guitarist with an incredible melodic spectrum, with poetic lyrics and a mastery of interacting with her audience. She is also part of the Cuban Nueva Trova family.

His repertoire is so varied that he also rewards us with children's music. Below, you can see one of those songs, from YouTube.

P1070201.JPG

P1070202.JPG

P1070203.JPG

Anabel López (Yo te invito a caminar conmigo) 2004

I like this album a lot, not because she is the sister of the beloved Silvio Rodríguez. Anabel has a detailed intonation and musicality, with messages that reflect depth in her interpretations.

P1070204.JPG

Frank Fernández (Desde la música) 1994

If we want to talk about Cuban excellence in piano, we will always mention our beloved Frank Fernandez.

P1070207.JPG

Dayana Soliño (Perdiedo el control) 2012

A young singer-songwriter who is inclined towards the Pop-Rock genres. In this album, my favorite song is "Dicen". It has a musicality, rhythm and lyrics, which touches emotions.

P1070208.JPG

Grupo Síntesis (Ancestros) 1987

Throughout the years, this group has been able to promote the values of this music, whose origins date back to African religions in the country.

P1070210.JPG

Fusión (A tu corazón) 2003

In our hotels, there is always a musical group livening up the nights, and one of them is the quartet Fusión, which with their instrumentation, their lyrics and their voices, manage to leave a nice memory in those who enjoy their vacation days.

P1070209.JPG

Below, you will see two other grapples that motivate to dance. Undoubtedly, one of our treasures and a worldwide attraction.

Maykel Blanco y su Salsa Mayor (Que no me quiten la Fe) 2016

P1070212.JPG

Azúcar Negra (...se acabó el pescao!) 2011

P1070213.JPG

Alain Daniel (Trayecto) 2014

Singer of popular dance music that is very popular among young people. Some of his songs have been used in our soap operas.

You can see the video of the song "Lloro por ti", where he sings with the illustrious Cuban composer Descemer Bueno.

You Rockkkkk!!! 👍😎🔥❤️

Un abrazo rock man.

Ooooh you had me at DANCE music!

I can't wait to listen!

But since it's almost midnight here now, so I will pop it on in the morning when I'm doing the house work and have a nice dance around with the vaccuum cleaner!

I'll get back to you (but there will NOT be any photos though ok.🤣..)

I had the best night at work tonight thankyou @abrunet because I finally got a chance to listen to your playlist in full and was suitably impressed- especially with Juan Formell y Los Van Van and Silvio Rodriguez and happy to say that they are now on my Spotify Playlist.

And ofcourse, I can never go pat the Buena Vista Social Club- they are already on my playlist! 😃

I will have to check out the rest of the artists on your list tomorrow.

Much Gusto Mi Amigo!

Hi, glad you were able to listen to some of the songs. I see you enjoy them very much. Me too, but more of the vintage equipment, which is able to reproduce those epic tracks in Hi-Fi quality. I wish you a great day. Regards
