If there is one thing I am passionate about, it is sitting down with a glass of red wine and enjoying the music of my choice. But not just any sound, but audio that reaches my ears with a quality that kisses High Fidelity.

There are days when I feel like listening to New Age music that relaxes me and blows my mind to other places. Other times, I need to listen to Pop, Rock, Jazz or some singer from my country.

Today I will tell you about my New Age collection. And you will get to know my Compact Discs of preference. All Originals, which are played with this Yamaha player or with a DENON, along with a good Preamp and its outputs to Speakers.

The music that encompasses the New Age genre, was born in the decade of the 60s. It is characterized by having a soft, melodic rhythm, with electronic sounds or sounds produced by stringed instruments, wind, piano, among others. Sometimes nature effects are added, such as rain or water flowing in a river or descending from a waterfall.

By the type of sound vibration, this music achieves, at physiological and nervous level, an effect of relaxation, psychic harmony, changes at the level of brain waves, release of endorphins, etc..

For these reasons, it is a type of music that people like very much, and it is appropriate for Holistic Medicine centers, Spa places and centers where meditation and yoga are practiced. In coffee shops, bars, restaurants and hotels; where at low volume, they achieve an atmosphere of well-being that makes you connect better with the environment.

My favorite albums:

Buddhist Chillout

This is a collection made in England, under the Bar de Lune label, made up of 3 CDs that compile the themes of various authors.

Listening to it, my mind is transported to Asian countries, where there are Indian chants, choirs, and where natural sounds and instruments used in rituals and spiritual ceremonies predominate.

Buddha-bar

Since I heard the music of Buddha-bar at a friend's house who invited us to eat seafood, I was so delighted that I asked him to make me a copy that same day.

Under this worldwide known name, there is a great work of selection of successful songs within the New Age and that have been well liked internationally.

Although I have not been able to make it happen, one day I will go to the Lounge Bar and Restaurant Buddha-bar in Paris. The first of its kind, which delighted many with its refined music, and has been replicated in different countries around the world.
It is known for its mystical design in its decoration, and its music is its scepter.

Inaugurated by Raymond Visan and Thierry Bégué in 1996. It houses a large replica of Buddha, like that of the Guimet Museum in France.

Feeling the music of Claude Challe and Ravin, will make you expand your mind and feel you start a journey of spiritual initiation, immersed in a relaxation that energizes your soul.

From 1999 to 2012 they have published annual collections. You can download them online. My favorite CD is Buddha-bar II on disc 1 (Dinner) from 1999. When you listen to it, you will remember these lyrics.

ERA

This French project is another one that fascinates me. Its leader, composer Eric Lévi, gives us a sound where modern rhythms of Pop, Rock, Gregorian chants, etc. are mixed.

When I listen to the music and videos of ERA, my mind goes back to the Middle Ages, where the Teutonic knights fought and galloped with their beautiful horses wielding their sharp weapons. Also to the Iron Age, where Celtic culture was evident in certain European countries.

They have several CDs, DVDs and have choreographed shows that together with their music, make you live unique moments. My favorites are the first three: ERA (1996), ERA 2 (2000) and ERA (The Mass) 2003.

Loreena McKennitt

She is a singer of Scottish and Irish descent, with a mastery of harp, piano and accordion. When I listen to her, it makes me visualize and go to Ireland and countries where the Celts performed their mystical initiatory ceremonies.

Her Soprano voice with soft tones, together with the sound of her strings, has made her worthy of many awards and a well-flowered career, which began in 1985.

Enya

The music of Eithne ní Bhraonáin, known as Enya, is another world exponent of New Age music. It also harkens back to Celtic times, something that is passed down generationally.

She is an Irish composer and singer who has given us her work, with that Mezzosoprano voice, in up to 10 languages.

Enigma

In Cuba the music of Enigma made an impact in the 90's, with its first album.
It is an electronic music project, created by the German Michael Cretu, in 1990.

He incorporated Gregorian chants and the sound of flutes in his tracks, to the choirs.
For me, his best albums were his first three studio works. Of relevance, his first CD, where Cretu, addresses philosophical themes in his material, life after death, and unsolved enigmas.

Everyone will remember their iconic songs: "The voice of Enigma" and "Sadeness" (Part I). Titles from the first album MCMXC a.D, which is the Roman numeral for 1990, their year of release.

This song, has made the passion of many people throb and depertar the passion of many people. It is the ideal music to eroticize the moment and our bodies between cocktails, glances and caresses.
