Music As A Source Of Income.

Gone are the days when people sing for passion without getting anything from it. Now, people sing for money. Truly, there are some people who sing for passion because they love it but there are just a few of them.
Now, when people realize that they are good at singing, they try their best to monetize their music and that’s why most up and coming artistes like to keep spreading their songs because they want to get popular. The more they get popular, the more people stream their songs and the more they make money from their music streaming services.

Do you realize how much money people spend on music promotion? When I hear that some spend hundred of thousands of dollars on music promotions, I become baffled but after hearing how much money they make from it, I then realized that music promotion is worth spending millions of money on so that they will be able to make over hundred times of the money.

Would you like to know three best selling songs of all time in the world? Now, this is usually classified based on the social network the music is uploaded on and the money calculation is usually based on the amount of streams or views that a song has.

This may not be the top but it’s surely one of the best selling songs in the world titled “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby. Would you believe that this song sold over fifty million copies? That’s according to guiness though.
Now, let’s think of how much a copy will be. It may be a dollar and this will make the artiste earn about fifty million dollars on just one song.
Now, tell me why people wouldn’t do music?

I decided to talk about the top watched music video on YouTube. I can’t really do the calculation but YouTube practically pays about two to thrity dollars for one thousand view.
Then, this music video has close to sixteen billion views. Can you fo the calculation?

This means that the person who made this video would have earned millions of dollars. That’s a whole lot of money. If it keeps happening like that, a lot of people will keep doing music and depend more on it.

Music has made a lot of people wealthy because rich is an understatement. It’s a means of income and the good thing about music is that it is for a lifetime. You don’t just make music and you’ll earn for a short time. There is something called royalty in music and that’s your earning.
Even after you die, your music which is your intellectual work will continue to fetch you some money.

Blinding light remains the most streamed song on spotify with close to five billion organic streams. Do you know how much money Spotify pays artistes? I think I’ll just stop here and leave you to do the Maths.
